A is redundant US punk (God you lot churned this stuff out didn't you) that has little in the way of distinction. College kids making a noise basically.
B is one of those Velvets tracks I never quite got, at least in terms of the song. But it's a wonderful sounding thing, the guitar (Morrison, Reed or both?) is particularly great.

'Hey Mr. Rain' is one of a few Velvets' tracks I really don't care for. It actually gets close to being irritating at times, that screeching viola isn't big or fun or clever - it's just patience-testing. And it goes on way too long. There's a reason it was left off the album in the first place. Odd choice.
I like some Bikini Kill but there's really not much evidence of talent or style or anything much good in anything they did, really. This is no exception.
OHh I'm giving it to
B
because there's enough Cale/Reed magic to keep it from going under completely - but whoever chose it needs locking up

I'm not often this in line with G. I pretty much agree with his every word here.
I will also point out that there are multiple versions of B and this might be the best of them. (Actually, the 90s reunion version did this well too, outside of Mo's drum flub in the beginning.)

O'Dead may have played a blinder in this most mundane of cup rounds, of course it's a bit backward looking, but it's looking back to the spirit of proper punk chaos like X Ray Spex, rather than yer dull pub bastards. I just don't get how you can call another 60s band with a bit of a psyche organ wild, and then criticise something with as much exuberance as this. Good work.
B's not a bad pick either, if you're going VU, at least get the classic line up and an obscurity. Always good to hear John Cale's viola, and that distinctive early Velvets guitar action. Just a pity to bunch together the only 4 interesting tracks in the round to the last two ties.

I like B, but it also gets a little annoying. A is a blast and the kind of thing that i feel protective of around here.

A is Kathleen Hanna, right? I quite like some of her other stuff but this was a little too basic if still an enjoyable (checks) 1 minute 45 seconfs. I only got to hear B on the reissue of WL/WH a few years ago - its got that Cale drone thing all over it and while its not a great *song*, you can dig the whole vibe that's conjured here. Like both here, to be fair.

B is lethargic, not sure what anybody can get from it. Anyway it has some value for not being A.

A would've benefitted from ending after the first chorus and even at 1:45 it felt too long.
B feels too long too, but has the added bonus of Cale's fantastic playing over top.

B!
I like the idea of Bikini Kill more than the execution, I'm afraid
