I always liked him. I won't get into my Easy Rider can of worms but he was a relaxed and engaging actor. sure, I first think of "the Trip" or "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" type stuff. On second scan I think some of his later work like "the Limey" & "Ulee's Gold" was very good indeed.
he did his own thing in his own time...

Idaho Transfer is worth seeking out..although I'm not sure if it's any good, but it's certainly different! One of those really odd 70s sci -fis that you remember.

a heads-up for his perfromance in the vadim segment of 'sprits of the dead' in which he stars alongside his sister fresh from her appearance in 'barbarella'. i think it was the only time they appeared in film together.
