Something like this. With a house full of analog era vinyl, it's only a matter of time before a person starts to wonder "What would all of these records sound like through tubes?".

When I was a lad, you couldn't give these things away. They were cheap trinkets made for and by chancers, and yet...it's a sound I've grown to love. Generally speaking, the newer models are garbage, and if you want this sound, you've got to be prepared to break the bank (for something you'll probably use on no more than two songs for the rest of your life).

Our guitar player played a pretty great Coral solo on one of the tunes we’re currently recording. It sounds killer.

This thing is going for £1000 much better sound than a traditional separates set-up (that would cost less than half the price)? Yeah I know. They're meant to be really nice. I might get one when we (eventually) sell my dad's house.

I can't even tell what it is. Does it play vinyl or cds? Quite a nice design though.

As well as paying a grand for the thing, you need a subscription to something like Spotify so you can play music through it.
And as it's one fairly compact unit, I don't see how you'd get much stereo separation with the speakers being so close together.
Looks nice, tho', I agree.

I don't think the hoi-polloi are terribly fussed by 'stereo separation' these days, that's why you always get descriptions of these types of things that say "room-filling sound" and whatnot. Put yer earbuds in if you want stereo separation.

The easiest thing to do is buy a cheaper version that doesn't fill the same amount of room and put it in the smallest room of the house, like the bathroom or the cupboard under the stairs.

I'm so far behind the curve these days it's not even funny.
I fear that if I don't step up soon I'll end up like the old man.
He can't even use a DVD player, let alone a smart phone. I think he still sends telegrams.

In a similar vein, but not 'kit' as we usually understand it, I think if I had several grand to throw about I'd invest in one of these things $56,000!
