Sorry, STILL don't haven the time/inclination to listen to it fully, but can I say I've always kind of had a thing for her. Trenchant critique I know.

Her very strong vibrato can be a little overpowering, much like Robbie Basho Robbie Basho (who I've come to love) has a very strong vibrato, but his entire style is so unassuming that it seems VERY different to me. Buffy's vibrato is much more 'in your face' (mixed way higher, for one, in general, and even enhanced electronically on this particular record). I'm listening now and don't hate it, fwiw, but I do admit to finding the vibrato a bit off-putting. A song or two (like in a cup, or something) would be fine, but a whole album of it is wearying. (Says the guy that loves Tom Verlaine...) That said, "The Angel" is a lovely song.
