My favourite too. I think it came on a MOJO CD or something. Ultimately it's as insubstantial as a Cheeky Girls single. But that's OK

This is maybe my fave by Harmonia; it's gorgeously hypnotic with those driving yet subtly shifting rhythms, and full of melodic beauty. That's much more like it, in my opinion. There's a weight and a drive to it that's absent from the Cluster tracks. Love that stuff.

There's a weight and a drive to it that's absent from the Cluster tracks. Love that stuff. My favorite of Harmonia's as well. Weirdly enough, my very first exposure to Cluster was seeing them live back in '95 or so, before I had ever heard a note of their recordings. I like both groups, but they've never been at the top of my playlists. I prefer Can, Faust, Neu...

Cluster are like sweets. You can gorge on them for a bit, get a bit sick of the nothingness, wait ages and then go again. I like G's description of the blankness of it all - but at the same time I think "Zuckerzeit" is a perfect album in so many ways.
I've got to know Roedelius a bit over the years after meeting him and Moebius at a Cluster gig back in 2005 or so - he's a very funny and dry guy as you might expect, very similar apparently to Florian Schneider. Same generation of slightly detached, moderately comfortable Germans who fool around with music for a living. He's 85 now.
I love Harmonia too but they are two very different beasts. Monza is massive.

I like Cluster & Eno's "After the Heat" an awful lot.

C has just started a thread about the bands in the other place. Apparently they are robust - who'd have thought it, eh?

I think if he ever had an original idea it would cause some sort of implosion.
