You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not?Yes, but long before I do, the waiter has been avoiding coming to the table ‘cause they feel nothing good is going to come from it. If you could change one decision in your life would what it be?Can’t think of one but there are plenty instances where I should have made a decision and did not Who's your favourite sports person?I don’t have one really but if I have to name one: Johan Cruyff. If you could make love to one famous person who would it be? A toss up between Eva Mendes or Sofia Vergara. Outrageous beauty.Pork or Beef? Beef of course. Nothing comes close. Preferably Basque 17 year old aged Dairy Cow. Pork can be amazing of course, but in a fight Beef will always win.Cheese or dessert? I'm always going to go with dessert IF the choices are good. Cheese is pretty difficult to get wrong (although I've seen it happen), but I will go with a Panna Cotta for example, or a lovely Chocolate Mousse as these are things that are magnificently simple with good ingredients. I tend to avoid cake etc. I prefer a cheese board if ALL of us are eating cheese, and in most instances I prefer to eat cheese with cured meat etc as a meal rather than after a main course. You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not? It depends on the calibre of the restaurant really. If I go somewhere and we're spending £100 a head, then yes I'll complain. If it's a "there's no other choice and we sort of know it'll be ok at best" then I won't because I know the poor sods in the kitchen are probably just heating the food up anyway as it'll be transported from somewhere else.
The most important thing with complaining is to do it with a smile, to be polite and quietly insistent. What is often the case is that we might get our dessert taken off the bill or something like that. If you could change one decision in your life would what it be? Invest the £7000 I got from my Uncle Biff into Apple in 1997 rather than going around the world. It would now be worth £5 million.Who's your favourite sports person? Jurgen Klopp. The guy's an absolute legend and a huge inspiration.Tell us about an encounter with a famous person... I once told Ronnie Corbett to fuck off. What would your dream job be? Classical Historian/academicDo you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why? Yes of course I've underachieved. If I'd applied myself much more vigorously at school and wasn't so damn lazy, I probably would have had a much better idea of what I wanted to do at 21. I had the ability, I just couldn't be arsed. There were many contemporaries of mine who just worked hard, applied themselves and had discipline. I've never really had the latter. I like mucking about too much. It doesn't bother me though.Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film? A nice meal. I find good Cinema to be difficult to find and appreciate nowadays. If I do go to the Cinema, it is more than likely that I'll be watching an old film.
Good meals are much more of an experience. If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be? Oh probably Owen Jones, Jolyon Maugham or maybe even Will Self. How would you like to die? Knowing that I'm on the way out, having a nice meal in a Greek villa, smoking a lovely Cigar and then dying in my sleep as the sun comes up, the smell of pine, oregano, lavender and freshly baked bread wafting through the room. What's your favourite car?

If you could make love to one famous person who would it be? - Ceara Lynch
Pork or Beef? - pork
Cheese or dessert? - dessert!
You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not? - I'm OK with complaining about bad service or things like waiting too long for something, but this - not sure. I'd probably just leave some money on the table and walk out quickly. What can they do? It's awkward. Doesn't happen very often, mind. You're disappointed with the food, at worst
If you could change one decision in your life would what it be? - can't think of anything right now
Who's your favourite sports person? - None of them. they're all wankers
Tell us about an encounter with a famous person... - nothing I haven't reported here a couple of times already
What would your dream job be? - drummer in respected-but-fun non-mainstream rock band
Do you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why? - underachieved, absolutely. I was expected to do great things when I was a kid - instead, went to a low-ranking polytechnic, pissed a decade away, now kind of struggled back up a couple of rungs. No regrets THO
Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film? - it depends. If I'm alone? film every time. Meal with a mate or a girlfriend, probably. Not a clear choice
If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be? - sorry to be predictable but definitely TRUMP
How would you like to die? - when I'm very old
What's your favourite car? - oh I don't know. An old thing, low-slung (?)

If you could make love to one famous person who would it be?Bloody hell, I dunno, does it have to be a famous person? I don't generally see people on telly or whatever and think of them in a sexual way. I dunno if it's the separation via page and screen, or the kinda bland perfection of the media definition of beauty. Should I just pick someone who might be in my league? That woman on Bake-off at the moment. With the eye make-up. I reckon I could've had a shot at her a few years ago. Pork or Beef?Beef, but not a 17 year old in a basque. I mean, steak vs pork chop, you'd have to be mental to pick the latter. Cheese or dessert?Cheese. I'm not sure what I wouldn't pick cheese over. Perhaps one day I'll be in some kinda life or death situation where I've got to choose between my family and never eating stilton again. It's not looking good for the wife and child, is all I'm saying. You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not?Depends what you mean by bad. I mean, if it's just not pleasant to eat because the chef's incompetent or whatever, nah. I just wouldn't go there again. If it's cold, or it's got someone's hair or teeth in it, than yeah, I'll kick up a stink. If you could change one decision in your life would what it be?Dunno, I can't think of any life-changing moments where I actually made a decision. I just kind of bumble through life. I think I'll elaborate on the ahievement question. Who's your favourite sports person? Is Muhammad Ali a particularly boring answer? If so, the slightly more interesting answers would be Garrincha or Andres Iniesta, which are purely for sporting reasons. Of those, Iniesta is the only one I've seen live and in the flesh, in the 6-1 win over Celta Vigo (with the famous Messi penalty). Even though Messi was playing and on top form, I still think Iniesta was the key to that side's brilliance. His pressing, his ability to recieve the ball and not worry about how many defenders were surrounding him, his inch-perfect passing. There was something about his ability to dictate the temp of a game, he'd slow a game down with interminable tiki-taka, or instantly switch his team into aggressive attackign football with a driving run or starting to chip passes though the defence. Ultimate big-game player, too, man of the match in the World Cup final, the Euro final, and a Champions league final. Tell us about an encounter with a famous person...Crap, no anecdotes of any size to tell. Saw Gordon Brown in the Hotel Inn Sheffield once, Ricky Tomlinson was at a family wedding, and that's about it. What would your dream job be?Author, I think. I'd have to be a multi-million seller, and regarded as an intellectual, obviously. Not yer Dan Browns, but a less dead Philip Roth or something. Artist. That sounds like a bit of a doss, too. Do you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why?Hard to think of life in terms of achievement, I'm not convinced there's an end goal or prize to be won. I guess I could've worked harder, or took more risks and gone freelance, and could now be earning a fortune. One of my mates charges £750 a day, Microsoft hired him for about 4 years solid on that, too. Another mate I used to work with is fairly well regarded at Google, flies around the world telling developers people how to use Chrome properly. He's got to be loaded. But would I be any happier? Who knows. I'm not exactly always happy, but I'm not materialistic either, and am comfortable enough not to need to be. At the moment, I don't need more money than I have. That might change if I get made redundant, or when I'm old and looking to retire. Who knows? I can't find anyway to get interested in money, or "things". Certainly, I've never applied myself particulary to anything. Coasted through GCSE's, capsized in my A-levels, got thrown out of Uni after one year. Fell into software engineering, fell into a comfortable job, stayed put.Got married, got a house, had a kid. Just things that happen, isn't it, life? That might be a lazy western attitude, but it's my lazy western attitude. For a working class kid from a dead-end town, I can't complain about my lot. Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film?Meal out, any day of the week. Ever since having a child 13 years ago, I haven't used a single baby-sitting pass to go watching a film. I could live without a tv, live without cinema. Couldn't live without literature and music. If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be?fange Actually, I just put fange because I thought it was funny, then started thinking, but what if fange takes me seriously, despite the tongue-sticky-outy emoji, what if he thinks there's a genuine deep-seated resentment there. So then I have to write this edit, and now all I start to wonder is if I'm suffering from some anxiety disorder, or a rare form of autism or something. How would you like to die?Quietly What's your favourite car?My son's just started banging on about cars for some reason, had me looking up Lamborghinis and Bugattis over tea. Another thing that's overrated, innit, seems like no-one has an old banger anymore. Makes me wonder if Top Gear really worked selling a transport device as an aspirational object of desire. Having said that, I'd like a nice sleek Aston Martin, but I'm quite hapy with my Golf.

If you could make love to one famous person who would it be? Phew don't know. There is an adult movie star who i think it just amazing looking, stunning. I found myself looking at pictures of her instead of seeing her perform. I can understand the lonely infatuated thoughts some of youse might be thinking but... Pork or Beef? Beef, can't beat a bit of beef, spuds and....yes i'm Irish. Cheese or dessert? Dessert, i love when a resurtant does a one of them bit of everything plates. Ice cream, cheese cake, hot chocolate cake, oh yeah, get there. You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not? Aye but my attitude towards it depends on how the waiter treats the situation. If they're a dick, i'm gonna be a dick. If you could change one decision in your life would what it be? Bit too personal to answer but i know what it would be. Who's your favourite sports person? Too many to name. Tell us about an encounter with a famous person... Pork or Beef?
Beef, I suppose, but I'd prefer fish
Cheese or dessert?
Depends on the cheese
You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not?
If it has fingernails, hair, a band aid, sure, but I would never send something back. I've worked in kitchens and have seen what happens to meals that were sent back.
If you could change one decision in your life would what it be?
Should never have ordered that pie
Who's your favourite sports person?
Walt Frazier
Tell us about an encounter with a famous person...
I got my ass kicked by Alice Ghostley
What would your dream job be?
A Gentleman of Leisure
Do you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why?
I'm about where I should be
Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film?
Film, it lasts longer
If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be?
So many in American politics, Devin Nunes, Matt Gaetz, the Turtle, but I think I would enjoy punching Don Jr. the most. Not necessarily punching, but a full Last Exit To Brooklyn stomping, and hanging his carcass by the feet from a lamp post so passerby's could kick him.
How would you like to die?
Quickly, painlessly and unaware

First answers that come into my head
If you could make love to one famous person who would it be?
Tom Sellick
Pork or Beef?
Pork yuck, beef good.
Cheese or dessert? Both. Together and also separately.
I love cheese so much.
[You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not?
No. I'd just carry the vendetta in my heart for always.
Mostly because I don't think it would solve anything and they should know better.
If you could change one decision in your life would what it be?
I wouldn't want to mess up the timeline and end up anywhere but here...
But I do sometimes reflect how I DIDN'T do some things when they were the right thing to do,.. and I carry this with me.
Who's your favourite sports person?
The last point I was into sports: jonty rhodes
Tell us about an encounter with a famous person...
I went back to NYC for the first time since I had lived there 15 years before. I was walking with my friend from middle school and we both walked into our former teenage crush (from 15 years before). He was polite and very good looking and it seemed the most appropriate NY moment ever.
What would your dream job be?
I got my dream job 3 years ago. But I'd like fewer hours and less paperwork.
Do you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why?
Neither and both. I've worked pretty hard, and I guess I've achieved according to the level of work put in. I've under achieved according to my own expectations though, and over achieved according to most people's.
People I've gone out with in the past did not understand why I have such high expectations of life. I married the first guy who pushed me even further.
Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film?
Even if it's a Michelin star place, I'd pick a great film in the cinema every time. It's one of my biggest joys.
If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be?
Anyone who hurts or takes advantage of vulnerable people.
How would you like to die?
On good terms with everyone.
What's your favourite car?

If you could make love to one famous person who would it be?I like the Salma Hayek answer, but there are lots of women. Cindi Crawford at her peak. Heck, even now. Pork or Beef?Pork. I love pork. Cheese or dessert?Cheese, I don't have a strong sweet tooth. You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not?Depends. If it's my fault on ordering something I wasn't sure of, I'd lump it. But if it just tasted off, I might mention it depending on the entree cost. If you could change one decision in your life would what it be?I am imbued with a pretty strong sense of self-righteous indignation. There was a situation at work that led me to get laid off because a manager was covering for himself and I exposed it. I shouldn't have. Who's your favourite sports person?Retired, Willie Mays. Still playing, LeBron James. Tell us about an encounter with a famous person... I haven't met many famous people. As a kid I got my picture with Phil Silvers. He seemed to be a nice man. What would your dream job be?Naming cars. Do you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why?Definitely underachieved. Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film?Pass. If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be?Trump. Easy question. Also, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Sen. John Kennedy. How would you like to die?A horrible painful death. Are you kidding? In my sleep. What's your favourite car?1967 Mercury Cougar

If you could make love to one famous person who would it be?
Oooo, tough one. Julie Christie circa Billy Liar? Pam Grier? Catherine Deneuve?
I'm gonna go with Angelina Jolie in Hackers. Just too hot. Like your ultimate fantasy made flesh.
Pork or Beef?
Steak is one of my favourite things but you need to pay a bit to get the good stuff. Pork is cheaper and usually tastier. Something like pork belly is still cheap yet delicious and as a general rule I will always go with the pork option on the menu.
Cheese or dessert?
Cheese every time. I'm not a dessert person and rarely touch them, often because there is some hellish combination of fruit and cream involved. I really I only like some cakes (chocolate, carrot, lemon drizzle) and I have sensitive teeth so anything too cold sets that off.
I'm not fussy with cheese....I'll eat anything but for me it's the perfect ending to a meal....chutney, honey etc optional but always with that final glass of red.
You get served some food at a restaurant and it's pretty bad. Do you complain? If not, why not?
Nah, I'm too reserved and too British. I remember being served raw chicken at a place and I just sent it back but didn't complain. I will chase up slow service but complain about food? Nah, I just eat up and get on with it. As silly as it sounds there is something a bit ungrateful about it that I don't like even if it is justified.
If you could change one decision in your life would what it be?
I would pick a different university and course.
Who's your favourite sports person?
Maradona. Not just for his genius but for his character and what he represents. I find him fascinating and hilarious. A real larger than life character who also happened to be a footballing God.
Tell us about an encounter with a famous person...
I've mentioned the time Paul Weller was staying in the hotel room next to us in Sorrento and my Mum asked him for an autograph on my behalf and he VERY RUDELY REFUSED (he wasn't really rude, just matter of fact, and the cunt was on his balcony having a snout so what do you expect?). I came across Wayne Sleep in Aberdeen one night coming back from a club on pills. He was trying to find a taxi rank and I enthusiastically offered to walk him but he refused so I pointed him in the right direction.
What would your dream job be?
Astronaut...If I had the balls and brains.
Otherwise....professional footy player.
Do you think you have underachieved or overachieved in life? Why?
I think I have underachieved but I also had some disadvantages that held me back when I was younger and I recognise that too. As you get older you look at people who do things you'd like to do and often think, "they really ain't all that" but unless you have that monomaniacal drive and ambition you won't get very far. Work is full of people who I think are inept but are earning way more than me but I'm ok with that and have never wanted a certain kind of job. On the contrary I would have liked to avoid the workplace all together and done something creative. I'm a bit of a dilettante though which doesn't help. I get ok at something to prove to myself that I can do it but rarely go much beyond that to being very good. That's a flaw of mine.
It's a difficult one because there is always self doubt and it's easy to downplay yourself out of modesty (desirable) and humbleness (also desirable) but too much of that holds you back. Maybe one day I'll look back and think "I could been X, Y or Z" and feel VERY SAD but I've always been content to just waffle on and take holiday snaps or write about music on messageboards and be happy with that creative outlet and that's all on me.
Would you rather go out for a nice meal or to watch a great film?
Years ago it would have been a film, now it would be a meal. A great meal with fine company is one of life's very basic but greatest pleasures.
If you could punch anybody in the face and get away with it who would it be?
It wouldn't be a politician or somebody important like that. Gwyneth Paltrow is someone I would never tire of slapping. Also Russell Brand...stupid, self important celebrity types who think they know the answers. Also any Hollywood twat.
How would you like to die?
Drugs overdose. I wanna go out on a literal high.
What's your favourite car?
I loved the AC Cobra when I was younger. Loved its squat, powerful design. Also the Ferrari 250 GTO which is maybe the most beautiful car ever made (along with an E-type Jag)
