Most of these are bad, extremely so, but worst ever? Not even close...

We can't let this thread linger over there.
Here's a track that's fascinating in its incompetence. The stumbling sitar solo is hilarious, the drums are so out of time that I think the drummer is only just leaving the studio and the whole thing is marvellously out of tune.

Jesus, that Bush song (and, indeed, that fucking band) are like the atomized essence of some especially noxious strain of music's...no, actually of ART'S quantifiable nadir.

That's hideous. Good work seeking out a completely non-obvious track tho' G! There were some things on Friday's TOTP - 1987 - which were truly terrible, by the way. I'll have a look at the list.

Yeah, I mean I'll big up the 90s in lots of ways but when somebody dismissively suggests the 90s actually sucked part of me admittedly remembers shit like this and thinks, "yeah they might have a point".

Not to turn this into the "Worst Version Of 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" thread, but - this is the one to beat:
She probably thought she was being subversive - the Queen of Protest Folk deigns to do a pop song! - but this is quite possibly the worst singing I've ever heard from her (just contemplate THAT for a moment).
Yet when it gets to the bridge and she looks like she would like to dance but no-one's ever shown her how, I almost feel sorry for her.
And yes, that's Phil Spector leading the orchestra from the piano bench.

It sort of seems unfair to add this one, but I think some of you might be interested. It's an example of how utterly clueless non-English-speaking European countries could be at making popular music - the fact that it got to the stage of being broadcast on TV is....well, I don't know...

Brilliant! He's an original mover, you've got to give him that!
If it was a British record you'd assume that it was some meta-art school statement in irony, with the anti fashion and so on..but this lot probably were on the level!

It's beyond parody, isn't it?
Most of the audience look riveted, but I find it depressing to watch. It's just the clumsiest, ugliest, most unmusical mess.
Around 2:15 his voice changes a little and he does an angry little rant which is followed by applause and some smiles. I'd love to know what he's singing there. It can't be 'I hate my life' 'cos they wouldn't allow it...

That was pretty special. The uncomfortably long closeups on audience members (something of a hostage situation, seemingly), the free jazz guitar solo at the end...you wouldn't dare look away, would you?

From wikipedia:
"Zvuki Mu (Russian: Зву́ки Му [ˈzvukʲɪ ˈmu], roughly translated as "The Sound of Moo") are a Russian alternative rock/indie/post-punk band founded in Moscow in 1983. Lead singer and songwriter Pyotr Mamonov is one of the most revered and eccentric figures of the Russian art scene, whose absurdist lyrics are as playful and disturbing as his vocal style and explosive on-stage presence.[3]"
