Do you think this will work?
Glad I never started smoking and it does annoy me sitting beside someone smoking or smelling of smoke. Not sure if this will work or just increase the black market.

well, put a pile of recommendations in one hand and blow your nose in the other. it's pretty much the same thing, isn't it?
I mean, I'm all for people filling white boards with ways to solve problems. even if you come up with something stupid it activates the gray cells and shows that the problem is serious enough to at least talk about tackling.
I think "people will smoke anyway" is the reliable antagonist to solutions for these problems. I think we should take that statement a step farther - WHY will people smoke anyway? I think the goddam manufacturers should have an obligation to list all the ingredients in the products and the processes used on them before they reach the market place.
there's no doubt that, here in the US, flying and dining are much SAFER for restricting the use of tobacco products. On the other hand, I've had loved ones who feel like they are under the boot of Big Brother because they need to spend their break looking for a place to engage in their physical addiction
A product that people are addicted to is the best sort of product that a supplier can have. I say we treat the supplier more seriously than we treat the addicted. I have resigned myself to the fact that the people I know who Vape will NEVER stop. I'd like more information about why they will never stop. sure, they are stubborn but WTF are they putting in their body? even if THEY don't care - I think that's something we need to know if we are going to seriously talk about regulating that stuff.

That will ABSOLUTELY make all the difference. Of course it will. Damned fools. I'm a smoker, unfortunately (and I hate it!!!). It's one thing to inform people of certain dangers, but come on. Our packs are now almost generic looking with 75% of the cover showing disgusting images and threatening text. Sure, go ahead and put warning s on each cigarette. Why not. Maybe they could use flavoured ink? That'll teach me. One thing that might help though, at least in diminishing consumption, would be to make pre-rolled ciggies illegal. If I had to roll my own all the time I can assure you that I would not be smoking anywhere near my present 30-a-day. But then again......

I don't think stuff like that will work. The addiction, i'd imagine, would make you blind to those type of pictures. I'd have more confidence in the raising of the age thing. Try to get people to stop smoking but put most of the effort in stopping the kids from starting smoking in the first place.

I think we all know what's required, which is to make it a jailable offence to smoke anywhere without the use of a cigarette holder.

Smoking might go down, but the black market price for addiction would go up.

Cigarettes in Oregon are $11 a pack and I still haven't given them up completely. Sometimes, I'll buy one on the weekend. I kick myself every time I buy one. Imagine going through a pack a day. I remember going into a liquor store many, many years ago and saying to myself I was going to quit when they hit a dollar. I obviously didn't listen.

The brand I smoke is now very close to C$19/US$15 a pack. There are slightly cheaper options but they're too raunchy. I spend more on cigarettes than on my rent FFS! (OK, my rent is very cheap compared to most, but still!) And the more I think about quitting, the more I smoke! IDJIT!

11.20 for 20 pack of lambert and butler. When I quit I was smoking 40 a day. The cost these days is ridiculous.
Good luck in quitting!

The UK government get more in tax revenue than the cost of NHS treatment for smokers, apparently, so...
