I like CAN when they're most locked into a groove, the way they take a simple rhythm and drain everything out of it until it's totally wrung dry is quite something really. Which is to say, it's the intensity of "Vitamin C", the happy, percolating "Bel Air", the fierce attack of "Halleluwah", or the stoned Velvets-like drone of "You Doo Right" that pull me in. It's the way all the music coalesces if that makes sense.
Suzuki and Mooney's vocals were both effective pivots for the band, Mooney's strangulated yelps fitted the more abrasive attack they had going on at that point, while Suzuki was airier, much like their music (especially on Future Days, which is slowly becoming my favourite Can LP.)
They were a very singular band.
