Was Fools and Horses any good? I remember watching it as a kid with the folks and enjoying it but have not watched an episode in years but suspect it's actually a bit crap. It was huge though, huh? Like our Mash or summat.
Yeah it really was. It had a golden period of a couple of series. I reckon it began to go down hill after Del got together with Racquel.

Am I the only one who finds Blackadder a little overrated? The whole "Ah Baldrick you really are a very, very overwrought metaphor" shtick got a bit tired after a while.

That sort of 'Shakespearean insult' that Stephen Fry has based a career on, yeah.

That's really just series 4 though, which is held in higher regard than it should be because of the poignancy of the final episode. Series 3 never gets enough praise, imo, because it was much sillier in general than the others, but had moments of absolute genius.

It was fresh at the time though but I know what you mean. It's that kind of clever, smart arse comedy

Yes Minister and Steptoe and Son would be in my top 10. Maybe Phoenix Nights as well but I realise that's probably niche.

I'm not that fussed about British sitcoms.
Here's my own top 10, in alphabetical order, and even then most of these aren't exactly shows I would consider all-time favourites.
Black Books Father Ted Fawlty Towers Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace Green Wing The League of Gentleman (not sure if it counts, more sketch comedy) Red Dwarf The Royle Family The Thick of It The Young Ones

It can be very witty, but a lot of the lines could feel like they were trying too hard. There was also a vaguely smug feel to the whole thing as if they were really pleased with their own cleverness.

The Thick of It was magnificent, wasn't it?
I mean no other country in the world could produce a show quite like that.

It would be fucking brilliant if Tucker showed up in the last season of veep. Show them some proper cursing.
