Ah! I was thinking about seeing that. I'm not a huge Almodovar fan, but it sounds kind of gentle and melancholy - might appeal.

Walked out partway through?
Anyway...
Blade Runner 2049 just got added to Netflix so I watched it on Sunday. I thought it was pretty decent, and is just fine as a standalone film. It looks fantastic, and the soundtrack is fitting, but...I dunno...I just don't like Ryan Gosling that much. He just mopes around with his hang-dog expression until he needs to jump into action, which he does in the same hang-dog sort of way, except faster. I think Denis Villeneuve is a great director, though, and I can't wait to see how he handles 'Dune'.

Weird half-baked police-procedural meets Exorcist thing. Whatever happened to Eric Bana's career? This is pretty lame as either horror or cop thriller, makes not a bit of sense, and the teaming up of Special Ops expert and undercover priest must've been a hard pitch to the studio, surely?

Remake of the notorious early 80s slasher/horror, and surprisingly nasty for a modern film with a fairly big name in the lead role. Not pleasant viewing, and not exactly rewarding, either, but there's no doubt it achieves what it wants to do with a certain finesse.

It Chapter 1 and 2 double bill
I liked part one. I thought it was way above average Hollywood horror with some nice touches, a good you cast who had chemistry and some actual yuks.
Part 2 was so bad the lass and I not only left halfway through but we spent about the next 5 days pulling the thing apart. Seriously, it was an abortion.
Such a shame

Low-budget horror time again, this has a cast of just two people, if I'm not mistaken, but it works quite well. Essentially, Mark Duplass claims to be dying from cancer, and wants a day in his live videoed so that his unborn son can see what he was like. But it soon becomes clear that he's more than a little odd and desperate to be a friend. Not brilliant, but lives up to its title fairly well, and is uncomfortable viewing at times.
