Great photos and I’m glad you survived the trip… possibly even enjoyed some fragments of it?
I actually only looked at this thread today but I would have suggested you get something from your doctor to ease the anxiety of going. Men aye… they never think of going to the doctor to get drugs 😝

No, eating at a restaurant would have been a waste, of both time and money. I haven't eaten out anywhere since 2019 anyway, because of Covid.
It wasn't a holiday, either. We stopped at Rheims and Troyes on the way there, and had a couple of trips out along Lac Leman, but basically it was hard work.

Nice creative pics, Ray, as usual. And I'm with you on the eating out bit. Since 2019, I've eaten one lunch at a restaurant (unavoidable work function) and have grabbed a fry from McDonalds because the friend I was walking around with insisted. Everything else has come straight from my kitchen.
That way I have full control (well, almost full control) of all the ingredients and how they're treated. This on top of avoiding paying what would be enough to send a child through med school ffs.

I’m yearning for a venture myself now. Thanks Ray. Nice pics.
What were the people like? Welcoming, or miserable like the Parisians ?

Thanks Ray! Some wonderful pics there. This one makes me want to take out my painting gear (I suck at painting, but strangely, while doing it, I feel a little as if I was Vincent, and this particular pic is triggering that fancy ).

I didn't really interact with many people. Em tended to do the shopping and general interacting with tradespeople, as her French is better (mine isn't as bad as I thought, but hers is deffo better) and the times I needed directions, the people I asked turned out to be English, Scottish or American, rather than French. The two or three I did encoounter tried to help .
Evian itself, while iut looks great and you can get the water from several public springs, is a playground for the wealthy. Everything absurdly expensive. Lots of hotels, golf courses: plenty of people from the Middle East, and a fair few Swiss looking for tax breaks - it's not uncommon for people to commute to Lausanne across the lake, or Geneva around it.
