2.League format - we can only come up with the exact structure when we know the final number that have signed up. But if for instance 21 signed up, you'd have three groups of seven with each participant submitting six songs. Normally we'd have the top two go through. 4 more entrants needed for that scenario. surely we can manage that?

Or give it 24 hours and then we might have 20 - 4 groups of 5...

Or give it 24 hours and then we might have 20 - 4 groups of 5... that doesn't really work, Then it's a list of four songs, five rounds of eight matches, and four (or eight) through to the final. You would be better off with two groups of ten, or even nine, top three to the final. Eight, or, at a pinch, seven, is the minimum number for a group if it's going to work. I would have been happy to run the thing, but just don't have the time at the moment - nightmares in builderworld. I'm happy enough to vote, but won't compete. I don't do competition because I don't like feeling competitive. About anything. I haven't entered a cup since Maarts cheated me out of a place in the finals of the covers cup.

You can add me in if it helps. Or leave me out if it helps. I'm fine either way.

looks like entrants have dried up. 3 groups of 6? No, go for 2 groups of 8. Top two from each to go to the final. That means everyone picks 7 tracks.

C*** OK, unless anyone objects, or really wants in (where's Penk/Inspector Norse btw?) in the next 24 hours or so, I will get in touch with all the entrants to ask for lists and run this as two groups of ten, with the two aliases at 19 or 20 put in so that we don't have to piss about with bye rounds. This means everyone submits a list of 9 songs, any time, any genre. There will be ten matches a week, song against song, up for strictly seven days. Anyone can vote, including non-entrants (but excluding aliases): two points for a win, one for a draw, votes difference to separate those on equal total of points. If we start at the end of next week, this will take us to the end of June. Top three at that point go into the final, five songs each, total of 15 matches over a fortnight. I can't guarantee bells and whistles, but I will keep to the rules and timetable. Of course, if anyone does object, or there are late entrants, I will accommodate that, but let's not let it drift for any longer. Ray

Why do we need to get to 20 rather than 18? Not that I have any objection, I'm just curious!

It's not a need, as such, it's just tidier, and it makes for a list of nine, rather than eight – plus it lets me have a bit of fun choosing appropriate lists for pandascream and C***, neither of whom are remotely in it to win it, which removes my basic objection to entering, namely that I dislike having my competitive instincts aroused.

where's Penk/Inspector Norse btw? I've just moved house and been on holiday so, you know, real life and that. Happy for someone else to have a go at running this, the 80s Cup in the other place was more than enough for me to be getting on with! I'll enter if you want more people but if you'd prefer to stick to 20 entrants that's fine by me too.
