rayge Avatar May 9, 2019 2:24:14 GMT -7 rayge said: I couldn't even begin to try to put a list of 20 together, but am surprised that Performance is on only one list so far and Don't Look Now isn't on any (apologies if I missed one). No Boorman, either, or Hitchcock, or Russell (OK that's understandable) and just a couple for the Archers – and neither of them A Matter of Life and Death. No Third Man, either.
EDIT started writing that before GB's post, so the arithmetic is a bit off.
"Hope & Glory" kept coming and going off my list. I was looking up production credits to decide which qualified as British and which didn't. research kept losing to the fact that five more films would pop into my head. I love Boorman & consider him pretty underrated. (I did pick "leo the last" which is Boorman & Russell's "music lovers") I think Russell is due for a little reevaluation too now that I think about it. the things that made him so easy to dismiss back in the day don't look so heavy handed compared to what's come since. what remains is a very unique visual style and some very dynamic performances.
