A has some nice stuff but doesn't really add up to much.
B took a while to get going but there were deffo moments. One to revisit.

I found myself enjoying the general vibe and groove of A more than the actual tune, which was a little thin. I need to find a way into the Waterboys that actively avoids the folky, fiddly stuff as they’ve definitely got something away from all that faux rural bumpkin nonsense. Um,

B - A is not my thing at all.

Wish I’d picked A! It really takes off and flies away.
Whereas B, despite being full of hot air, fails to take off at all.

A is far too frantic for me and as Ray has pointed out, the bass is really off putting.
I thought I was familiar with the Waterboys catalogue, but I guess I'm not, and I'd happily listen to this one some more.

A sounds like people having fun in a barn. I don't spend much time in barns. I like some Waterboys but B is kind of generic in a way, standard '80s touches with an odd slow-disco beat thrown in there. The overactive piano got on my nerves a bit and I felt it didn't really do anything to justify going on quite so long as it did.
That said I like Scott's voice and probably prefer it overall, so B

B's more my thing. I like the afrobeat-esque drumming on A but the rest of the track does very little for me.

As was Bonnie Bramlett. A massive track in New York's nascent disco scene and a big favourite of Nicky Siano. Not that that will mean much to the Preludin Rockists!
