A has a genius chorus - it's the way it upstages the verse. It fills my village hall dance floor, that's for sure.
Thanks B

a - this was well after my time, but I vaguely remember it, or at least those spangly synth bursts, and the female vocals on the 'chorus' - or hook/strap line to give it its basic marketing vocabulary. The actual 'song', though, is total crap, a really awful attempt at a hip hop anthem on the lines of It Will Stand or Rock and Roll is Here to Stay. Because they enunciate more clearly than some, I'm actually offended by the drivelish sentiments and the poor 'writing'. No, not for me, or anyone else in their mid-30s or older when it came out, I suspect. 2.5 / 10 b – I can't pretend this is my thing either, much as I loved my New Order 12" singles, which is the main reference point for me in listening to this - or rather, dipping in and out of it as my mind wanders and I pause it as other things emerge for me to deal with. As ambient, slightly dynamic wallpaper, it does draw me in on occasions with the synth textures. Can't see how this is in any real way 'dance' music, which is a plus. on the downside, the vocals are a bit lumpen and some of the rhymes - gratitood and attitood for one – are pants, but overall does enough to win here. 4 / 10

This is a good tie. A is a well-remembered fizzy pop hit, all bounce and joie de vivre. B is a complete unknown and I enjoyed its sparse groove although 9 minutes is too much of a good thing. I have a sweet tooth so

The synths on A are wonderful, it's just a shame that the rest of it is performed by a chorus of CBBC presenters circa 1992.
B is more my wheelhouse (just what the hell is a wheelhouse anyway?), I really like the suggestively menacing drones that intrude; like many '80s electro cuts, it could do with dropping some of the vocal but that's a minor quibble.
