Hmmm, New Orleans jazz funeral on acid, or bargain basement Simon & Garfunkel...
I kinda like 'em both, but the car-crash free-form aspects of A make it slightly less enjoyable.

A lot of free jazz is really downright melodic when you break it down and get into its internal logic. Not the case with A, which seems rather squonky for squonk's sake. But I like the patriotic music interludes, which I guess makes this a "protest song" in some respect. I [damning with faint praise]liked what it was trying to do[/damning with faint praise]. But I got the point in the first two minutes.
Sorry, B (pretty obvious who picked it) - I will never understand abiding love for the Fugs outside of their peak. Against most things this would be pure cupicide. Here it's actually got a shot.

Poor choices from two of the most interesting artists of the last century (weren't they both on ESP?).
I'm going for the Fugs' track even tho' it's a flimsy effort. A is mostly unlistenable. Real Emperor's Clothes shit

I dislike both. Neither work for me and are a chore to listen to.
Abstain.

Ha! I'm pretty sure I know who picked A. It's glorious. B isn't without its appeal either even though it can be pretty rote as well. A

Oh no, a little live Albert Ayler has set the natives off, look out A Well, you probably should have gone for a more listener-friendly track from that album if it were votes ye be seeking, but I for one love this track. It has its own structure and logic pretty clearly defined to my ears, and the playing is a blast. B is actually kind of pretty in a solemn folky way, but is just too anti-climactic after the storm of A. A

Words fail me to describe how bad B is. Terrible stuff not worth the time of the people cleaning the studio after the recording. But I have to vote for it, and I'd wish I was allowed to vote three times for it, because one vote seems not enough punishment for A.

A bit weird to call Albert Ayler an interesting artist and then criticise the track choice, it's like criticising a Beatles fan for picking "Tomorrow Never Knows". This is distilled Ayler, trying to advance the form beyond the realms of Coltrane and Ornette, while harking back to the original New Orleans sound. It's sheer unbridled joy, beauty and freedom, and is basically perfection. It just stirs something deep inside my soul. I was in Greenwich village a few weeks back, and couldn't find an Albert Ayler record for love nor money. Seems a shame. But it was bloody hot, and I didn't look very far.
I know nothing of The Fugs, and I can't decide whether I like this or not. It's like Comus playing something on CBeebies, slightly off-kilter still, but very nursery rhymey, too. Has a certain charm, makes me wonder if they did something more worthwhile.
A, obviously.

Christ alive! A is absolutely not what I want to hear at this time of night. Or ever again. Politely, its not my bag. Sheesh. I understood the Fugs were some kind of heavy prog/punk concern but this is actually possibly even worse tha A. Self righteous old tosh that I'd expect from a BCB goon.
Abstain.
