I get what the Count says, about listening to all the picks at his leisure then voting all the ties in a block, and maybe others do that, but I find it dispiriting when someone votes on all ten ties in six minutes within less than an hour of them going up, when it would take far more than an hour to listen to everything, and they couldn't possibly, given the recherche nature of several of the tracks, know all of them intimately already. Fair enough, you don't have to listen to them all all the way through – I certainly don't always do that but at least I mention it if I don't, or lay my anti-PROG or other prejudices bare, rather than just banging in an A or B without a word of explanation, praise or excoriation.
Sorry to start two moralistic threads like this and the one on playing the ball, but if there's a cup tradition to be established – and I hope there would be – I'd prefer a few ground rules or guidelines.

you're on my case today Ray! if a track is already familiar to me then i don't really feel the need to listen to it all the way through, unless it's one i particularly enjoy. with tracks i've not heard i will endeavour to hear them to the end unless they irritate me sufficiently, in which case i might fast forward just to make sure that i'm not missing something.

Absolutely not on your case Adam. I've absolutely no problem with you at all on this. Mind you, you're going to have to wait another 168 hours before the next lot go up Look again at what I wrote. Did you vote on all ten in six minutes? Did you fail to leave a comment alongside your As and Bs? Don't be paranoid, lad, just look at the posting patterns so far and think on about who or indeed what 'inspired' this thread.

ok, gotcha. i'm still reeling from last night's hostility and the subsequent chastising i received. with regards to said poster, i'm wondering whether it's the thorn in the PROG goon's side, doktor rokster. not richard, the bin man but the poster who hilariously imitates C. of course, it's probably seepage who is the only US poster who has ever commented on the UK neo-psych scene.

No goon will ever darken this door. You have my word. I wouldn't mind Rick Wakeman joining. I reckon he'd have some fine old tales to tell. You must promise me you won't turn him away John!

Given the shit he'll turn up to on TV, I reckon if you sent him an invite he'd probably join.

I don't have to listen to a whole song to recognize it isn't to my taste or I think it sucks. Life's too fucking short.
One of my credos in life that's gotten me this far is to avoid pain at all costs. That includes tattoos and shitty songs.
