If it was a right-winger saying those things, there would be actual outrage. "Silly things" - it's anti-semitism pure and simple. I notice no-one in my left-wing bubble has said anything. Apparently he was suspended and then reinstated. I don't think all the offending posts are gone though. It surely raises issues in regards to twitters approach to issues like this. Absolutely. If this doesn't qualify as hate speech then I don't what does.

Can someone explain to me why Vines Is over but Tik-Tok is happening? Aren’t they pretty much the same thing?

I asked my nephew the same thing. I think you can make longer clips than with Vine (which had a six-second limit, I think)

The range of abuse that J K Rowling suffered recently made my mind up for me that much of humanity is downright appalling. Cleese trending today

Well, he's a comedian so he makes jokes - and as you can see they don't go down too well with people whose heads are blazing, trying to make serious points about inclusivity. I can understand both sides.

he likes to push buttons.
Toby is right about Rowling. terrible scene. So called "tolerant" people engaging in vicious abuse, some of which is obviously misogynistic.

I can understand both sides. Yes he was funny, what, 40-50 years ago? The jokes he makes in that tweet thread are pathetic, typical BOF humour. I bet other BOFs are laughing their asses off at jokes like ‘ deep down I’ve always wanted to be a Birmese policewoman’

Betty denim wasn't too keen on the transgender issue either wasn't she? No idea why she popped in my head. Just remember being a bit surprised because she seemed pretty liberal.

Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle have gotten in hot water with gay and transgender jokes too. Hart had to back out of the Oscars because of it, if you remember.
But there is some difference between Rowling/Cleese and Hart/Chappelle. Rowling and Cleese just seem ignorant, mean and unwilling while Hart and Chappelle are lazy and tone deaf.
But maybe that's my misperception too based on the method and forum they use.

I think she objected to the way that men who identified as women would have free access to female toilets - the dangers that could result from that are pretty obvious, I think. That was one main point, at least.

I've seen him attacked for all kinds of tossed-off statements but his views really aren't particularly shocking. He's still a sharp cookie, just a little old-fashioned.
