I could listen to A until it reached the one minute mark and then it completely lost me. However broadminded you are, that kind of thing is always going to be an acquired taste and it's one I have no wish to acquire.
B is new to me and very interesting indeed. I was quite surprised to find it's from 1968 as it sounds more modern than that to me. I'd be lying if I said I was completely wooed by it ...I found that insistent viola/fiddle bit got to be quite annoying and the production seemed oddly cluttered and compressed ( not the best sound quality upload either), but there is something there and I liked the vocal. I have a feeling I might prefer other tracks on the album, but it's one for investigation for sure. Intriguing.

Hmm. A's better when it's doing the kinda Muse/Radiohead thing, which isn't something I'd say often. I just find this kind of modern metal thing formulaic, where everything's recorded too loud, and there's a singy bit and a shouty bit. Slipknot have a lot to answer for. Again, points for bringing metal to a cardigan fight, but it's faceless identikit stuff.
Having said that, B's another shit oh so psyche slice of 60s pop rock. The violin is simultaneously the most irritating and interesting thing about it. The Residents found it obnoxious enough to sample on their "Lightning" (as The Delta Nudes) from the Santa Dog EP. The sounds all seems to be buried under a pile of cotton, and I suspect it would be much worse if it had been recorded properly.

Yeah, B is more "interesting" than anything great - it's a bit busy, and doesn't have a lot of room to breathe. And for something so unrelenting, it's surprisingly gentle - there's multiple melodies coming at you at all times, but they're not abrasive. Something to be said for that, I guess, and it's an interesting combination of sounds. And it is ahead of its time. Just a bit...well, whatever it is, it doesn't do it halfway.
And A is...well, it certainly is, isn't it?

christ. A is unlistenable shit.
i didn't enjoy B much either, but i suppose it does enough to get my vote.

A really is dreadful. And kind of bewildering as a choice, considering the sort of stuff we go for here.
B is interesting - Japanese psych? anyway whatever it has, it beats the other mess

If A were an entire song made out of it's first 20 seconds, the vocal/drums part, it might get the nod...After that, they start to play their guitars and ruin everything...By the numbers modern metal...B isn't much more successful and boy do I wish it WAS the track from Santa Dog...It squeaks by though... Vote B

A just isn't for me. All i could think about as i was listening to the shouty bits was how badly the singer would need some throat lozenges afterwards. B has quite an enjoyable sound, like it.

I like B's Al-Kooper-sitting-in-on-a-Moondog-recording-session vibe. Perhaps not enough for repeated plays, but it beats the pants off of A's Twat Arse.

Not a very good match to start things with. A is absolutely dire, the kind of nu/alt-metal that should be consigned to oblivion alongside all the P.O.D.s and Alien Ant Farms of the day. B's a bit of a mess too, can't say it works for me but I can see more appeal at least.
