A is on the face of it a semi-obscure track, but it's one that's been posted to BCb many times over the years and appeared in its fair share of cup selections. As such picking it comes across as a slightly cynical game playing move. I'm not as hung up on the 'obscurity' of tracks as much as some others but this is a little too obvious. For all that, it is a cracking track - the vocal sharing is great fun and I love the frantic way it rises to ever higher peaks.
I gave B a dutiful listen but could tell within the first 20 seconda that it wouldn't be my thing. This kind of meat and potatoes rock is deeply boring to me. Sorry.

Tough choice. I like A and have always liked B.

of all the northern soul tracks out there, A decides to pick a well-worn one which has gone round the BCB block several times. of course, it's great but a completely uninspiring selection.
B is just new wave bollocks.
ABSTAIN.

Ahhhh....I think the Graham Parker wins here. I'm no fan, he suffers from those same vocal afflictions that make Costello so unappealing, but this one's OK, just a wee bit better than the other thing (which I found just a touch too shouty and frantic).

A isn't "Nobody" - not much in life is - but it's still a great collaboration full of magic. Yeah, it'd probably better taken a touch slower - it's a bit too frenzied - but those two voices together are still very exciting to me every time.
I've never quite warmed to Parker - seems like he tries to be a soul shouter and a hard-edged cynical rocker spitting out invective at the same time and ends up being not much of either, really. Good band, though.

Neither sends me, but Parker is more annoying...A is functional enough for the pick..Vote A

Growing up, I used to like this GP album quite a bit, but I guess I've grown out of it. It has some good elements as the music and lyrics show some sharpness, but it just doesn't excite me i'm afraid. A is still a fun 2 and a half minutes and gets my vote here.

I've never heard A before, so it must've been pre-me BCB, or I just forgot about it. Which would be understandable. It's ok, in the grand scheme of obscure northern soul tracks that aren't as good as the northern soul tracks everyone knows.
And B's a bit of pub rock gravy which somehow survived past punk, I guess by having an annoying voice.
Abstain. Enough averageness.

A is short, nice and to the point. Pretty forgettable, but OK.
B is an old fave of mine. I have always liked the sound of The Rumour and the way that middle section goes back to the main theme.

Parker's not exactly on my list but he is someone I've never taken to, and rather than listen to this, and the not particularly endearing prospect of a Boring Cock and Bollocks 'soul' group-think up against it, I'll abstain

If A had slowed down a bit I'd probably like it more, but it's still better than B.
