A has a nice, marshmallow production ( is it Daniel Lanois? Sounds like his style), not unlike the sound Chris Isaacs had for 'Wicked Game'. The song though gets quite monotonous quite quickly. I don't mind it, but it's one of those things where it's less than meets the eye.
B is a novelty track and you either find these things funny or you don't. Not all humour travels however and this one is stuck in first gear. I have to wonder what B was thinking when they thought this was a good pick.
An extremely lucky A

A is the kind of earnest singer songwriting i despise. nothing going for it at all. bland as bland. B is just a piss take and would normally serve as a bye for its opponent. in this case...

Lyle is inoffensive enough, in a Chris Isaak manner, to get the pick here against a novelty tune...What's next, Weird Al's "Another one rides the bus" ? (Though, that might have got my vote..lol)... Vote A

I often like Lovett, but a five-note melody repeating for five minutes? No thanks.
B is goofy, but since I haven't heard it since listening to Dr. Demento many decades ago, it's hardly worn out its welcome - as A did in the first minute.

Sorry, both are not really my thing. A is just a bit too blah and boring, while B is a bit too blah and annoying.
My first abstain.

A looks like the respectable Jandek, an alternate universe where he learned to play guitar, and decided that everything would be beige. It's pretty tedious, although there's something about it, the relaxed vibe, the way the bass reminds me a bit of Morphine at the wrong speed. It's not a bad effort, despite clearly attempting to be the most boring song of the round.
B is a genuine shocker. Perhaps Weird Al isn't the world's least funny musical comedy act.

Maybe B is funny, but I can't get the words, and if I could, I probably wouldn't get the humour either. As a pick, there's nothing I can say that doesn't sound offensive.
Didn't like A, but Lyle Lovett was once married to Julia Roberts, and that's enough to get my vote.

For a long time I didn't buy into Lovett, but have slowly gotten into his subtlety and craftsmanship.
