Still doesn't seem to be streaming anywhere in the states. Any idea where I can see it?

I admired him a great deal. Not only did he make one of the single best documentary series ever - he did everything. He made mainstream Hollywood films, modestly budgeted story driven movies, big effects driven "tentpole" movies - he was one hell of a journeyman film maker. His filmography might not knock you out film by film but what a cumulative whallop.

I read an interview with him last year when he'd just finished 63up and he inferred that he might not have much time left and that the series was the greatest professional achievement in his life which he never would have predicted.

I have unfortunately never been able to follow it but I did once see a tv program about tv, where they had made a lengthy montage of the program from various years. I do recall a boy, very nice looks, cheerfull. I think at the start of that was when he was 7 -8 years old. With each successive series however, he was spiralling down to a point that he was all alone and having psychological problems.
It was heart breaking to see and the gloom remained with me for months afterwards.
From time to time, to this day, I still think of it and wonder what's become of the guy. Years ago I mentioned this on BCB too and people assured me he was doing much better.
It is a very powerfull and telling program. A shame BBC never sold it abroad.
