A is very good but it suffers from those predictable chord changes you get with most early garage/r n r.
Cave at his best is gripping stuff. 'Nature Boy' is a fine, fine song. I get the feeling he's a little more respected here than he was over at the ol' Bee Cee and Bee. We'll see

I can't stand Nick Cave. Every one of his albums should have come with a vial of strychnine so you could kill yourself.
A, by default.

Not an Eden Ahbez cover then? Shame. I'm hit and miss with Cave; this is...not bad.
A is a bit ordinary as a song, but the slightly unhinged vocal performance and the slide whistle elevate it.

This is probably the closest I've come to thinking about investigating NC further.

A creates a great wild and moody feel, it's really got that 50s delinquent vibe. The song runs of of ideas pretty quickly but its still a lively listen. I don't mind the Cave but it goes into that U2 90s stadium sound a bit too much for me. Ultimately it just doesn't excite.

A is dull and generic
B isn't my scene, but there's more to it than the competition.

Rumbelows cup. Yeah, it sounds like something The Cramps might've picked up and improved, but it's got a nice bit of bite, a little bit of an edge with the grittiness of it all. Not too bad, for a youtube-record-label thing.
I don't know if I can win with Nick Cave. I got fed up with his ballads about wandering around slowly being frightfully clever, and when he finally breaks out of that fug, he comes up with an alternative theme tune to Friends.

This is a tough choice for me. A is the sort of thing I would typically embrace, but maybe have a little too often and that's the problem-- this unhinged 50s garage rock can go away for a while.
B is Cave looking for a hit, but I can't really begrudge him for that.

Good match. A is an enjoyable example of its style, a bit wild and unruly, but B is the kind of NC post-Birthday Party I can get behind. A good mix of melody and energy.

Another nice tie. I've declared before my saturation of the garage thing, but this one is nice and made me realize how much fun it'd be to play it with some friends (without that annoying whistle that sounds in the background here and there). Pretty sure it could be done in one take with little rehearsal.
I am a fan of Nick Cave and more especifically of the Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus pack, could be my fave from him. This track falls a bit into the commercial side, but as it's been said before, no blame on Nick to look for a hit without losing dignity.

We've heard a lot of the kind of thing A is serving up in this Cup and while I can dig it for yucks, its a slight thing all said. Against it, its the Bad Seeds at their most direct and commercial. I won't lie - I love the whole package here: the Cockney Rebel flourishes, the lyrics, the playing, its just ace.
