Three orders over this last weekend! I find that buyers don't always respond to messages I send. This isn't necessarily a problem, but I just charged £2 for standard shipping to the UK for a CD, and asked the buyer to add £2 extra if he wanted it sent registered post. No response, but Paypal just informed me that he'd paid £2 - so of course I assumed he was OK with standard mail. But then in the email I get from Discogs there's something about the item being 'eligible for seller protection' and a note for me to make sure I send it 'trackable'. WHAT?!? On top of that, the same email says he paid £20, but Paypal says only £19.12 was transferred. What's all that about? The discogs note about seller protection and tracking can be ignored. It's standard. Just send it normal post.
Also, paypal (and indeed discogs) take a cut so you end up with just over 90%.

Now I have to post this it's LP-sized (I guess) but fairly lightweight. I don't know whether my local PO will have special boxes for mailing 12" records and I really don't want to go into town, hunting such things down. I think I'll have to cut out two large pieces of card, put them either side of the box, and wrap the whole lot up in brown paper. I only set shipping at £5 to the US, too.

Estimating shipping can be a bit of a mare. At least what you're selling is light. Are you getting rid of all your records?

There's some good ones you're letting go.

I don't tend to value CDs at all, really. They're nasty little plasticky things, none of them have any sentimental value at all and pretty much all of them are replaceable. Anyway this is only a small fraction of what I own.

Anyway this is only a small fraction of what I own. I still have a bit of a sentimental attachment to them, but I should look at getting rid really. Or at least get rid of the ones I never play. The problem is most of them fetch such little money it hardly seems worth it.

Most do, yeah, but some fetch surprisingly large amounts. It's worth taking a bit of time to sort through what you've got and what you want rid of.

I've taken my list down for the duration, because making five or six trips to the local post offices every week isn't on. Heigh ho, but more time for creative stuff in home and garden.

This German twit is returning a T Rex DVD I sold him because it doesn't have a slipcase. He wants me to pay postage as well as refund the payment. He's been extremely polite but incredibly pedantic and long-winded about this fucking bit of cardboard that was missing like it was life and death.
My first bad experience with Discogs. Ho hum.

I mis-catalogued Bruce Springsteen's The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle as some kind of rare vinyl promo edition. Someone wanted to offer me a bunch of money for it. Alas I had to disappoint him, advising that it was just a bog standard Australian release.

Still down, Ray? I took mine down too, but reopened it about two weeks ago and have had a few orders. It's a bit risky going to the local PO, I suppose, but they've got all the floor markings in place and it's rarely very busy. I've realised that changing the price of any of your stock definitely results in more orders because potential buyers get notifications. I think it works like Amazon - they (presumably) keep changing prices, often by small amounts, so you're reminded of what's in your basket.

Already had four orders for a total of just over sixty quid. All I need to do now is to dig out my envelopes, stiffeners and all the other caboodle. I've missed it (a bit)
