Err...I love A and will probably vote for it. But I'll give B a chance...
Edit: Yep, still A.

Not my fault, the link was bogus. I found another one and hope it is the same.

A is that kind of earnest early 60s coffee house thing..very Peter, Paul and Mary, beatniks in black polo necks reading poetry..that kind of thing. Jon Savage's book on 66 alerted me to her "Walking a cat named dog" which was a lot quirkier and more interesting than this. It's okay but a bit of a period piece.
B is the kind of Euro trash I'd enjoy if I was on holiday in some sunny part of Europe. Unfortunately I'm not though.
I'm slightly in two minds here, so I'll return when an additional playing makes things clearer.

Norma Tanega sounds like an anagram nom de plume. Nora Magenta? Hmm, I dunno, it's quite pleasant, and almost in my squarehouse, her vocals are a bit schoolmarm-ish though, very mannered and polite. They almost take the joy out of the tune, which is quite a lovely thing underneath it all. Very slight though, innit bro.
Hang on, we've got bared breasts here, who sanctioned this filth? Did we have something from this geezer in a BCB Cup, I seem to recall a seedy looking Eurotrash fella in one, doing an unexpectedly ok dance number. This does not reach those dizzy heights. It's poor, to say the least, it really doesn't deviate from its daring attempt to be a novelty hit.
All of which stands, except that I've just heard the 1972 version, which makes me switch my vote. It still sounds like a novelty hit, but suddenly makes more sense why it was picked, the driven nature of the rhythm, those synth stabs, it all sounds that much more fun and less pasted on top.

That Norma Tanega tune is quite lovely with a nice vocal melody that almost veers off into silliness but manages to stay on just the right side of restraint.
I guess it doesn't really matter that whoever chose B picked a remixed version of the tune because it's still a novelty number regardless. The original clip is fun to watch for the choreography and set design, but that's about it. It's not a song I need to hear more than once.

I guess. I want to punch the musicians in the face a little less than A. Which is sayin' something.

I was just reading about Norma Tanega this afternoon! She's in the latest UNCUT, so whoever posted the song I can send them a digital copy if they want.
I like it more than B, anyway, which just freaks me out a little bit.

When do the Buffalo Girls arrive in B ? (Guy sounds like the love child of Falco and Malcolm McLaren) ... A sounds like a schoolmarm singing to her students, but she gets brownie points for her association with Dusty Springfield...Vote A

I know the highly efficient person would just abstain from this match... but is there any benefit to trying to qualify one's reactions to two tracks that inspire an almost identical resonant experience (albeit for far different reasons)--even though the reactions are nearly complete ambivalence?
B I guess, because it is losing.

Just to add to my earlier post as I didn't vote, the innocence of A might sound strange now, but it's a genuine innocence and couple more plays have warmed me to the track.
A
Incidentally Danny Wilson ripped it off for "Second Summer of Love" didn't they?
