The entire history of music to pick from and... ?? Hope this doesn't turn into the anti-hatz round. It's sure started that way. A has the tiniest hint of charm, I guess, in its utter incongruity. B is just my 80s nightmare.

Is A a take on the old R&B song? I've heard a few covers of this. This is not a very good one.

Really liked both of these.
A - new to me - has that Josef K/Fall spindly/tuneless 80s thing I always dig. I'll have to look them up. Great stuff.
It would seem strange to talk about Dave Ball being Soft Cell's 'secret weapon' as they were only a duo - but still, I think he's an unsung talent, perpetually in the shadow of the diva Almond. The sounds in this thing are extraordinary. So evocative, and absolutely timeless.
It's kind of close, bravo A, but this one has to go to

The stiff, flat vocal adds nothing to A, which is a shame as the music was quite perky and I quite enjoyed the tune. It can't compete with the symphonic angst of B though which still sounds as fresh as a daisy.

I didn't mind A until the chorus which I thought was rather limp.
B is up my street.

can't stand the "singer" on A. i fought hard against stuff like soft cell at the time, but in hindsight it maintains some period charm.

A's quite good, like Coan says, it has that nice amateurish charm that you used to get with indie bands before they were required by law to learn to play instruments correctly and hire competent producers. Pity it kind of peters out by just repeating itself over and over. And I like the Ian Curtis does Gospel thing. Someone should've done a Manchester post-punk version of The Blues Brothers, where the car chases are replaced by scruffy tossers pushing each other around Ancoats in shopping trolleys.
B's the better song, obviously, Soft Cell had that grit and sleaze with swagger thing, and that deep twanging synth does things to my genitalia. All of 'em.
But A is a less well-trodden path, a more interesting cup pick, and gets my vote for that reason.
