Besides the complaint of old songs, which for me is kinda of a specious argument since we decided to let everything in.
My only criticism would be lack of people on the new board to vote, but that's to be expected, I guess, considering the small amount of consistent members and visitors.

I think there's been good variety, I don't know what people expect really. The lack of numbers joining in and subsequent decline in numbers has been disappointing though. Whether we'll have another one depends on whether the board survives I guess.

I've been seriously thinking of taking a leave of absence for awhile too. It's not like I add a ton to the musical threads, which is why JC set this up in the first place. I appreciate Adam's devotion to starting new threads.
I have to do a local tradeshow for the next three days, then it's Friday, and I'm off for vacation the whole next week. I won't log on most of that time, if not the whole time, and will probably decide then whether to log back on or not then.

Not going deeply into the quality of the selections (Seriously don't get some of these choices), I think it's an ok first stab at a cup...We need more traffic, more people voting (Even if it's an "Abstain") to have an accurate account of the participation numbers and more engagement (People actually LISTENING to the tracks (even partially) and not simply voting against a track based on artist perception)...This isn't tough. If the other board can do it, so can this one...
It's a bit troubling to see G question whether the board will survive and see Sloop think about jumping ship permanently, though...

Well, there are probably less than ten people who write regularly (i.e. most days) here. A great deal of old BCB folk hardly contribute at all, even though they signed up (and I think often pop in to look around). Some showed initial interest and then disappeared altogether (Brother Louie, GuyE).
We've lost Loveless and Phenomenal Cat for good, it seems, and they were solid gold posters. Markus has fucked off again. Thang has fucked off again. Penk spends more time on CaB these days. Many others come and go - loyalty isn't something you can reasonably expect on a message board. If people aren't motivated to write, then that's fair enough. It is what it is.

Ah, I dunno. Maybe he is. I haven't seen much from him on Fb recently.
Is your lass not interested in joining up?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
No. She can't stand messageboard cunts and all that crap. She has no interest in that sorta thing.
I've looked at CaB but I haven't warmed to it. Too many smartarses and the political threads seem to be populated by Copehead lites.

Ah, OK.
Yeah, CaB is absolutely swarming with cunts. They'll roundly ignore you if you're not an old hand. And they all think they're funny as fuck. But still - there's so much traffic, so much knowledge there. Multi-page threads on the smallest, most specific things. You learn shitloads just by hanging around (culturally, I mean - you're right about the political stuff).
It's kind of a model board, the sort of thing we (or BCB) should be aiming for in many ways.

www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.phpI'm with GB on that. I just don't like the style of posting there, it reminds me of below the line Guardian - lots of people who think they have some superior wit. It's a shame about the lack of participation here. Some people just haven't taken to it. I don't know what we do about it though, as JC says it is what it is. I do think we probably only need another half a dozen posting regularly for it to really liven up again. Message boards can function well on relatively low numbers if the quality of posting is good enough.

Don't give up yet, John. Sometimes it takes a while before a board takes off.
I've really enjoyed the variety and quality in this Cup. And I appreciate Ray and G's work on this. Thanx again, lads.

I’ve really enjoyed it - it’s all about the comments & participation as much as the picks - which at least in the main can truly be said to be “personal”. I feel a little guilty about not posting more - two under 4’s and work mean I’ll struggle to get much more time on here than I currently do. But the topics AND the writing on the main board are a welcome throwback to the bcb days before prog prolapse, answering with a cover and thrift shop scores. Added bonus - no psychedelic cowpokes. Keep it going folks!

It's a bit troubling to see G question whether the board will survive and see Sloop think about jumping ship permanently, though... Very good chance this is my last day. Hence, my new avatar.
