I was agreeing with your post about Glass Onion before Coan posted.

It's one of the oddest Beatles songs. How many bands have ever been that self referential? How many bands could even do that sorta thing? A: very few.
Some great moments though. The woozy orchestral bits (well here's another clue for you all...), the build up around 1 minute in, the totally fucking weird fade at 1.49 that sounds like time is slowing down. I mean that fade sounds like something The Residents could have done. VERY STRANGE.
It's a seriously uncanny song. Total nonsense but one that has such a potent atmosphere and attack that you can understand why some, especially those with underlying mental health issues, might get lost in its surreal grooves.
I really like it but like a decent amount of the White Album it works best within the context of that record.

I meant the Beatles nuts who mistook Lennon's love of wordplay and nonsense for something else.
You get a similar reaction to Dylan.

Not as good as Prudence, Cry Baby Cry, Sexy Sadie, Happiness or Monkey though.

Clearly it's better than most of them.

....USSR, Blackbird, Long Long Long... Indeed..I was trying to make a point by just judging it against other Lennon songs on the album, but if you include everyone's it falls even further down the pecking order.

Clearly it's better than most of them. It's almost a non-song melodically speaking, but it does have an arresting, woozy sound. As GB says it works best within the context of the album.

Is "I Feel Fine" usually in the Top 20?

Is "I Feel Fine" usually in the Top 20? Probably my fault that. I think it's F*cking genius. I'm a bit of an oddball Beatles fan. The only albums I really love are 'Hard Days Night & Help' & bits of the 'White Album' I don't really like any of the others that much. I've always preferred their more 'pop' moments. Being a bit of a music obsessive/collector I must have owned all their albums at some point, but it's only those three that remain in my collection.

Given the strange McCartney-centric flavor of BCB over the last decade or so, refreshing to see Lennon dominate here at Preludin.
