very pleased with west ham's signings of Haller and Fornals. with arsenal and man u in disarray, i reckon we're a good outside bet for a top 6 finish. despite the incoming of VAR, i can't remember feeling more optimistic ahead of a new season for years.
edit: i suspect that this post will come back to haunt me.

There's a few clubs who could be candidates for a "surprise" top 6 finish. West Ham are one, but I think Everton, Leicester and Wolves are strong candidates too. The race for European places might well be the most exciting aspect of the league in the coming year.

We wont hit top 6 but I think most West Ham fans will feel quietly confident of a decent season. I'm sad to see Carroll leave if only because he seemed to represent a sort of bygone footballing archetype, but the reality was that he was never going to be fully fit.
Difficult to see beyond another City title with Liverpool pushing them all the way again. Frank Lampard's Chelsea could be a flop with Hazard gone and Spurs might have peaked. There's a lot of noise around Poch atm which doesn't seem to be disappearing. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he is the Man United manager by the end of the season.
Arsenal do look a bit fucked.

you must be shitting bricks, G. kroenke appears to be driving your club into the ground. A lot of it stems from poor decisions made in the last couple of years by Gazadis and Wenger -rewarding Ozil with a massive contract, the expensive signings of Xhaka and Mustafi, the latter whom we can't sell for even a third of what we paid for him, the huge wages being paid to Mykatarian, another who isn't good enough and who we can't sell. The club desperately needs direction. Basically I agree with this.. ps://www.thelondoneconomic.com/sport/football/we-care-do-you-arsenal-fans-unite-in-scathing-letter-to-club-owner-stan-kroenke/15/07/

The race for European places might well be the most exciting aspect of the league in the coming year. i agree, that of all the teams competing for a surprise top 6 finish, leicester look the best placed. i think everton will implode. i can easily see silva being the first prem manager to get the sack. delph will turn out to be another walcott. their squad is so unbalanced and they don't have quality up front. i've made my feelings known about the barrel-chested barking pickford before. he is a mini-joe hart, full of errors. i haven't been following wolves summer transfer activity, but they don't appear to have added much. last season might prove to be a flash in the pan. it wouldn't surprise me if watford have another good season. anyway, my predictions: 1. man shitty 2. liverpool 3. west ham 4. leicester 5. man u 6. arsenal 18. newcastle 19. sheff 20. spurs

No way will you finish third. I'd temper my expectations a bit if I was you.

I don't think you're defensively good enough for a start and I have doubts about your manager. Spurs aren't going to disappear either..however much we'd like them to!

I don't think you're defensively good enough for a start and I have doubts about your manager. i agree, the defence could be improved on, but i think diop and balbuena are a good pairing in the centre. as for pellegrini, there is simply no grounds for doubting him. he's managed some big clubs to success and done well with smaller ones. his cv shits on every manager in the prem other than guardiola and klopp.

I completely disagree. He runs it like an advertising brand for sports direct and shows no interest in improving the team. He can't be bothered to even talk to his managers. I don't think Newcastle fans are as naïve as you've broad brushed them to be, they just want someone that cares about the club. It's not much to ask.

Have you read the article? Yeah, I don't think there's anything there that alters what I've said above. He's been a terrible owner for Newcastle largely. He does deserve some credit for restabilising the club's finances when he first took over, but since then it's been a story of exploiting the club for his own purposes, lack of investment, terrible appointments etc. Look there's reason why every Newcastle fan can't stand him. You think they're all deluded and naïve, I think that some of them may actually understand football and their club.
