These two are rather excellent.

I follow New Scientist on Twitter, and the photographs and images they use are often striking and very well-chosen. I wouldn't say this series of images turns me on but I do really like it

Was just looking something else up when I saw this image. Wow - my childhood self would have got the poster of this and whacked it on the wall. Love it.

My son is into all things Samurai based so I've bought him the above poster. He loves the music from the film, he just hasn't watched it yet...

I remember sitting with my Dad in the supermarket with our TV tubes. We'd run them on the "tester" while Mom did the shopping. It might have given my young self some comfort to know that the RUSSKIES were using the same sorts of tubes.

This is an excellent example of how logo/ident design has deteriorated over the last half century or so... The third and fourth are particularly good - bold, simple. Pretty much everything from the seventh on is horrible, especially the big UTV things in the second line from the bottom. They didn't look good at the time, and they definitely looks worse today.

Does the book mention Dresser? It blew my mind when I saw his teapot. It's straight out that Bauhaus/modernist design aesthetic, yet he designed it in 1879! It looks like nothing else from the time. Wow! That is truly stunning!

Exactly.
Its worth is in its beauty. That's the point.
It's something I feel we have lost in this country...an appreciation of beauty. Look at architecture for example.
