How do you like your Heads? The nervy 70s ones? The smoother poppy 80s ones? Live?
Pick your 5 faves, rank them and tell us why.

I like them all except I'm not too keen on the first. My fave would be between Remain in Light and Stop Making Sense, I really love the expanded version of the band. But then I am also very fond of More Songs and Little Creatures, quite opposite directions. My fifth vote went to Fear of Music, but I feel a bit bad about not voting for Naked, an album that will probably be left behind. As a matter of fact I discarded it after just one listen to come back to it much later and get to appreciate it.

I only have Speaking in Tongues and Fear of Music. I find it hard to understand the critical acclaim of the latter, it just doesn't do an awful lot for me. I think they were generally better at the smoother pop thing, the 'edgier' stuff doesn't work that well. I mean, they're a decent band, who tried a lot of stuff, I don't dislike them, I just think they have better pop instincts than artier instincts.

Fear Of Music is wonderful. So many cute little melodies, catchy bits, strange sounds. 'Life During Wartime' is a bit of a drag, but everything else sings like the angels.
More Songs About Buildings and Food - for me it's all about the first side, especially 'The Good Thing' and 'The Girls Want To Be...'. It's like they created their own version of pop music which is as fun as the other more charty stuff, but it's just a tiny bit weirder. The production here is swampy where the next one is sparky, and that's a small point against it.
77 - Byrne's voice is a bit hard to take on some of this, and 'Psycho Killer' is a shit song, but there's a lot of gold. 'Don't Worry About The Government' is one of the catchiest things they ever did, 'Happy Day' one of the most beautiful, and 'Pulled Up' is an absolute classic.
I'd go for Little Creatures and The Name Of This Band Is... after those three, although I'd only drop Remain In Light and Stop Making Sense (the gimmicky version of 'Psycho Killer' there proves beyond all measure that the Heads always worked best as a BAND)

Life During.. is probably my favourite TH track. It's got everything I love about them, namely..a charged, exciting momentum, frenetic rhythms, interlocking grooves, colourful lyrics. Along with Cities it's the best track on FoM.

I have a slight preference for the live versions, but the FoM one is fantastic too.

Fear of Music is fabulous. One of those albums that combines weirdness with strong hooks and choons. Great stuff.
After that it's Remain In Light for me which was my favourite for years. It fades a bit but there's some wonderful stuff and I love all the extended grooves on side one. I think they really reach a peak of feverish brilliance there and Once In A Lifetime is an all time classic.
Then it's More Songs followed by 77.
I don't know anything after those 4.

Has David Byrne done anything at all of interest in his solo career?

Has David Byrne done anything at all of interest in his solo career? I remember liking Uh-Oh and not liking Rei Momo, but maybe this should be revised. For some reason I also got Feelings but I never play it, kind of insipid. Have not checked anything else.

I would rate them in this order FOM RIL More Songs SIT Name of
Then 77 SMS Little Creatures
Aren't a fan of the other two. Also think Byrne's solo stuff is forgetful. Do like My Bush of Ghosts which he did with Eno/
