That kind of curt one liner put down always appeals to me (it reminds of the scene in Annie Hall where Woody Allen says to Christopher Walken something like "Er...I need to return to planet earth now")and A did make me laugh.
I remember enjoying that episode of OFAH immensely, but the build up to the denouement now seems very laboured and the 'reveal' is quite telegraphed and not that funny anyway. Probably one of those that worked much better in context.

A is cute, but I'm amazed that BCB's all-time favorite TV show (we should do that here and I bet it finishes near the top too) has yet to produce a very memorable cup clip.
A funny (as in unusual) thing happened on reflection about B - just when I was about to say "missing context," I caught the deliciousness of the punchline, which made me make up all kinds of context in my head, which may or may not be right. I imagine that to be a rather mainstream sitcom, but the performances are great - there's all kinds of tension and release. Again, it's not LOL funny, but it's a great setup. Just goes to show sometimes there's reward in digging a little deeper.

Oh god, B by a million miles. The Simpsons had its moments, but that wasn't one of them. I'd rather have a one-joke 10-second clip from Family Guy. Hatz nailed it with OFAH. It's not just the quality of the writing (although John Sullivan is right up there with Galton and Simpson, Clement & La Frenais, Andrew Linehan and one or two others in the Brit sitcom pantheon) but the performances: not just Jason, but Nick Lyndhurst, Jim Broadbent and even Lennard Pearce, all with a mass of quality work behind (and with the exception of Pearce) in front of them. And it was a good clip to showcase that: at least it wasn't the chandelier or bar-flap scenes, and wasn't reliant on any of the show's catchphrases.

A was mercifully brief after some of the impenetrable cips we've seen, and would've won most of these rounds.
B probably suffers from its ubiquity and longevity, it is palpably naff now, as a concept. And I think David Jason's excellence as a comic actor is often overstated. But not in this clip, he's clearly brilliant here, and has you believing he's finally broken.

A is fun, one of those many many little moments in the Simpsons that give you a chuckle, but B just has more. Excellent performances and writing.

B is getting a lot of praise here, but it's not actually funny is it?
