Yeah, a box might be the way to go. Not sure about individual albums but some say Butterfly is a classic

the only reason I would get behind this lot would be to push them off a cliff.

I'm a little surprised that no-one's mentioned their distinctive vocal blend. If that isn't a musical signature, I don't know what is.
Back in a bit with some choice "deep cuts" (YouTube willing).

thanks for reviving this thread, JC! just watched my original post, the 'on a carousel' session. what great musicians and terrific harmonies.
strange how nash was the main force behind the hollies but was seemingly happy to take a back seat in CSN.

He wrote them in the back seat of their car.

Crosby has, in recent years, actually bragged about having never written a hit single. I figured he must have been exaggerating. Turns out he's right! He does have a credit on "Eight Miles High," but he's admitted it's largely ceremonial and he didn't have much hand in it. And he co-wrote "Wooden Ships" which was actually a single, but didn't do very well. But the lone writer on a hit single? Not once! Quite an accomplishment considering he was in two bands that had several.
Sorry for the diversion, just found it interesting, and it speaks to Charlie's point (which is correct).

"So Lonely" - b-side of "Look Through Any Window" Can we all take a moment to bask in the glory of this track? Given how great the “A-side” also is... this has to be on the short list of greatest-ever singles.

There are a number of their b-sides that I prefer to their respective a-sides - probably including that one (though it's close).

Wilson, Otis, Etta, Solomon, Aretha, Delaney Bonnie, even the Band should have picked this one up:
The Hollies "Pay You Back with Interest"

I think they all yielded a bit to Stills, as he was the musical muscle between them. Especially when Still brought Young in. That had to change the dynamic. You get the feeing that Nash felt pretty held-back in The Hollies. But he also didn’t seem to want to pull the wagon alone. Seems like he saw himself as a ‘John’ in search of his ‘Paul’ (or vice versa). It had to feel pretty good to have guys like Stills and Crosby to play off of.
