I don’t mind it. There are some health niggles here and there starting to make themselves known, but I take it as par for the course because I didn’t look after myself too great in my younger days.
I’m quite settled in what I’m doing, will be doing and where we are as a family. Last couple of years have been bumpy, but I no longer need to look after my parents, which is a weight off my mind until it comes to my wife’s folks.
I’m not interested in partying or trying to recapture my youth any more, and find great pleasure in things like reading and other mental pursuits.
The only thing I miss really is deep political conversation, but that’s why I like arguing on the internet.

I think middle age happens when you start to talk like ol’ Toby or Goat Boy. Or maybe that’s old age. Either way, I’m not there.
Show some fucking respect to your elders.

Yesterday, a co-worker said my shirt looked nice and I told her that my son sometimes will tell me that I look good. I respond to him that I haven't looked good in 15 years. I went to my cousin's daughter's wedding last year, and while at the bar this rather stunning blonde girl in her early 20s came up to me and said "I really like that shirt. My dad's got one just like it". And she genuinely meant it as a compliment. That's middle-age.

Yeah, you get to a point where you're invisible. It's not like you're judged poorly or even admired, you're just not there.
The shirt was there, in your case. Be thankful.

I've noticed that my walking pace has slowed. ALL of my fucking life (including a couple years ago), I was being yelled at to slow down by whomever I was walking with. I'd have to stop and wait every few steps in most cases.
Those days are behind me. Barring my Dad and one exceptionally heavy friend, I am now struggling (or NOT struggling) to keep pace with most folks. It's a little embarrassing.

I’m lifting lighter weights
Memory not as good.
A bit sleepier, generally
Worried about alcohol, despite most of my peers drinking as much/ more- but at that age where They Big Casino’ looms around every corner.
I like jazz
I’m glad Viagra exists. Just in case. In a few years. You know. Not yet.

There was a time as recent as two years ago, where my son and I would go on walks and hikes and I'd have to wait for him. Now, I have to call to him to wait for me.
