I was thinking of posting something like this. I think it's a combination of apathy, other commitments our various ages bring, and for me, I've never started many posts about music, but I do contribute. My ideas never take hold, and I kinda think I'm on a different plane when it comes to music talk. My sweet spot was always NDL, it seemed.
I was actually thinking of posting a "How to write a music post?" post because I don't seem to ever gain much traction with ones I start. Ever. And I hate to post three songs of the Band, but that's the kinda stuff that seems to work.
But there doesn't seem to be many active posters with time. Skope certainly made this place more vital, but he seems to have up and gone for good. Penk was here for awhile, but he seems to have gone too.
I like the place - less nuts and defensive people than BCB - but maybe that screwy contention is what keeps that place going.
I'm going to assume John has, but has he reached out to old-timers like Django, Clippernolan, and Fireplug, from BCB? I don't think Graham would be interested, but you never know. Rob/Clipper always seems to be ready to write about something on Facebook and Fireplug too seems like he could be egged on. But I don't know, maybe they're over music forums.

Most of our 'regulars' still post on BCB. If they didn't have that outlet, we might see a wee bit more action here.
But really, there's not much that can be done. It is what it is. We're doomed to a daily dribble of posts apart from at weekends when it slows to a drip. If that.

We’re into the winter silly season. Busy times. I wouldn’t worry that things have slowed. Adam will be back. The election will be done soon. Etc

There's not enough regular posters, it's purely a numbers thing. It's a natural thing for some posters to drop out or have stuff happen in their lives where they post less, but if you have a large enough core of regular posters you can sustain that. Our problem is we never really got to those numbers so if three or four members stopped posting you really notice it. I do think those of us left need to make a bit more effort in posting regularly to keep the board going.
