I can work from home three days a week atm but my contract ends at the end of the month. There's a chance that I could be claiming UC during the peak.

Northern Italy has been effectively quarantined.
We've been quietly buying a bit more dried food and bits here and there over the last week.
If the infection rate goes up significantly next week in the UK, I suspect we will see the same thing here soon enough.

It's a real crisis over there. A tragedy, in many ways. The piazza near Milan's duomo is completely deserted.
The Odeon cinema in Florence (which isn't even in the 'red zone') has closed its doors indefinitely - I just got an email.

It has the most elderly population in Europe which can't be helping. Almost a third of people there are over 60.

And so it begins - already twitterati are bemoaning the Government strategy and say that "something must be done".
It is an incredibly difficult line to tread. To a certain extent, at what point is "normal life" suspended to prevent further outbreak? Where does government strategy turn to authoritarian measures?

Quick thought - the impact of the Coronavirus on the Italian economy, already in a parlous state, will probably bring about its exit from the EU. That is, if it is allowed to happen. It's going to be a huge shock to the Eurozone that Germany will struggle to mitigate.
