I guess Trump is pumping a new medicine, which coincidentally is being promoted by a big donor of his with a financial stake in company. The My Pillow guy. For the non Americans, his commmercials for his stupid pillow are on the radio and TV, 24/7. Mike Lindell.

Anyone thinking of taking a break before schools start again next month? Flying across the water, even?

Anyone thinking of taking a break before schools start again next month? Flying across the water, even? why would any right-thinking person even consider travelling during these times? i don't get it. in fact, the thought makes my blood boil.

I don't know. I just need a break before September, after lockdown and a summer online with these Chinese crackpots. Anywhere with different air, different buildings, you know?

Anywhere with different air, different buildings, you know? yes, i do. i would imagine that most of us are champing at the bit to get back to a bit of normality. my personal opinion is that we're rushing back without thinking about the consequences. i suppose this pandemic has hit harder on some than others. i'm crossing my fingers that, come september, work will start to flourish again. in the meantime, i hope you enjoy your travels.

How to re-open and survive a possible second wave of infections: The possibility of a second wave of infections and deaths raises the question of what interventions can be used to significantly reduced deaths while supporting, not preventing, economic recovery. We use a five-age epidemiological model combined with 66-sector economic accounting to examine policies to avert and to respond to a second wave. We find that a second round of economic shutdowns alone are neither sufficient nor necessary to avert or quell a second wave. In contrast, non-economic non-pharmaceutical interventions, such as wearing masks and personal distancing, increasing testing and quarantine, reintroducing restrictions on social and recreational gatherings, and enhancing protections for the elderly together can mitigate a second wave while leaving room for an economic recovery.scholar.harvard.edu/files/stock/files/reopening_v9.pdf

COVID-19 is an ongoing public health emergency. Without a vaccine or effective antivirals, non-pharmaceutical interventions form the foundation of current response efforts. Quantifying the efficacy of these interventions is crucial. Using mortality data and a classification guide of state level responses, we relate the intensity of inter- ventions to statistical estimates of transmission, finding that more stringent control measures are associated with larger reductions in disease proliferation. Additionally, we observe that transmission increases with population density, but not population size. These results may help inform future response efforts.www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.06.30.20142877v1.full.pdf
