Both similar in that they're pretty generic (A is a virtual rewrite of "The Boy From New York City") but transcend their limitations through the sheer gusto of the performances. A's got more confidence in its arrangement and just comes across as the stronger record. Really enjoyable tie THO' - well done pop pickers!

A sounds like an 80s rerecording - the bass and drums especially sound synthetic and unpleasant. It's an OK song but that's spoiled it for me.

Liked A a lot. Good match though.

A reminds me of The Sesame Street theme. Those vocals are a bit too full-on for me at times, but then at times there's a catchiness to the cadence there, "I know I found the boy to marry...". I just wish it wasn't all so tinny and shouty.
Stax, outside the Stax round? Hmm, this kind of thing was my worry about the cup format, everyone would reach back to the same era as usual. It's another shouty bastard vocal that makes me feel like I've been admonished by a troupe of passing teenagers.
Another close one, but that little vocal line in A just pushes it over the line.

Like them both but A feels like it has a little more...something. I don't know what. Grit? Variation?

Both close to my wheelchair, as you imagine. I like the rawness of B, a trademark of the house, of course. But the vocals on A ultimately shifted the balance.

Peaches and cream are nice and all, but you'd have to be crazy (or vegetarian) to choose them over some good BBQ.

Yeah. B, for the modulating bit in the middle, if nothing else.

Good match! I'm really liking both of these, great energy and very hooky so hard to separate them. Might have to come back.

A Doesn't sound much like I remember the Boy From New York City. More reminiscent of the Dixie Cups around the vocals. This sassy, stomping, strutting style was a standard strain in girl group records in the mid-Sixties, but I can't recall another one with a harmonica solo or a general gut-bucket R&B sound to it. And it's not a re3-recording, but the digital remaster hasn't done it any favours.
B Crikey, here's another one from the same general area, but rather than a harp, it has an R&B version of a gonzo guitar solo. Bit of a toss-up, really, but I think I have to give it to the one I've known for 50 years or so.

Not things I'd normally spin for fun but not without their charms. I'm hungry for BBQ now. I vote B.
