Well, I liked both. It took a bit of time for A to take off, but in the end it was a pleasant listen and its 5 minutes didn't feel long. B on the other hand started with a punch and had a certain depth all along. When I was fearing that its repetitious approach was going to turn me off, along came the beautiful guitar sound and whistling that brought nicely the song to the end. A match that is both fine and close.
B just edges it.

A has a decent build up, but it's on the chorus where it soars into something really special, managing to be beautiful, sad and hopeful all at the same time. I kept waiting for something to happen in B, it just seemed to plod on with no variation. I'm genuinely surprised it was any kind of hit.

It's honestly beyond me why anyone would choose something like B. Even considering they had a pretty poor list to choose from. It's so far removed from anything we like here and it doesn't seem to have any charms of its own. Sorry!
A reminded me a bit of MGMT during those falsetto choruses and even tho' it's not QUITE as good as 'Kids' or 'Time To Pretend', it has enough to win this match

I'm not much of an abstainer. Do I have pick one?
B if I have to. It looks like something someone would post on Youtube, but I couldn't get past the nasal voice and headdress in A.

A has that mix of vagueness and assertivity which would make it at home at Eurovision. Sonically it's adept. B does nothing for me at all. Oh, the angst of having to do the dishes because yer lass has skedaddled, really?

I found B unexpectedly compelling considering it's a pretty repetitive melody and a bit 'slacker' thematically. It helps that A was way too long and dreary; it may be more skilled sonically, but the surface sheen really doesn't cover for the fact that there's no intention behind it.

A is good. Actually feels a bit classic, in modern indie terms anyway.

Why is A singing like a drunk who's stubbed his toe and is quite confused about why pain has happened? It's a dreadful bland slop of Pitchfork whoredom.
B sounds more like someone has thought about writing a song, and considered some kind of arrangement and production values. Not for long, but he's clearly not in thrall to half-arsed US indie-pop shit. More in thrall to being boring near a well-recorded drum.

Given the 'theme' chosen by Heifer, there's really no point going into this hoping to be exposed to some hidden gem of a track, nor do I feel the need to make any strong neural connections by analyzing these tunes. Basically they're both shit. I mean, I didn't even need to click 'play' on the first one; all it took was a glance at the makeup and fascinator to know that it was going to be some sub-MGMT wank. The second one is pretty dull, too, and the drums sound horrible, but at least the guy seems to have actually tried to write a song.

A is highly melodic. I don't think you lot have any ear for melody!

He's in thrall to a restraining order going by the lyrics.
