Damn, Townes was a talent! I want to hear the song that starts right before the end.
A is a great groove, but it's almost a bit cartoonish - it's neither psychedelic nor intense enough to invoke much feeling about the subject. Easy B.

What's the story behind the old fella crying in B? That's really affecting. Unfortunately the song is dreary old bollocks, as is all music sung by cowboys with acoustic guitars.
A is excellent

If we can call "bloke singing with an acoustic guitar" a genre, then it has to do one ( or preferably both) of two things: It has to have a captivating melody or be a compelling performance, otherwise it can sound quite rote or commonplace. I'm afraid the TVS track ticked neither of these boxes for me, but it wasn't bad. We've had The Dramatics track many times before but I can forgive it that. It's a psych soul classic with a sweeping, cinematic production that creates something epic and powerful.

It's a shame for Townes, this match. I like him and this song, but i can't in all honesty say i like it nearly as much as this classic from the Dramatics, which still sounds fab.

I do llike quite a few things I've heard from TVZ, but I found B rather poor. And definitely miles behind the grace and power of

B. Townes would write more matured songs than this but the simple refrain of this lyric achieves its power.

A sounds like a Blood, Sweat, and Tears. It’s shit.
The funny video for B adds value.
There must be better drug songs than these, FFS.
COME ON! DRUGS!!!

Jeez, A is another genuine stinker. From the terrible intro, to the wind sound effects, to the horrible silly vocals. My God, I'm not sitting through 5 minutes of this.
B is a reminder that I need to get over my phobia of country music, and actually spend some quality time investigating Townes. A slight song, but delivered well. That second song does sound like it could be bloody good, too. Having said that, the first 50 seconds of this clip would've beat A.

It's nice to see, actually.
Soul usually gets a free pass around here while "Cowboys with acoustic guitars" are met with immediate suspicion.
