I'm getting a bit fed-up of the nursing-home nature of all the music choices so far, but this is actually much more pleasant than I was expecting. There's definitely some life here, and the vocals have that lovely psyche-folkie European feel about them, the kind of thing that definitely influenced Broadcast and Stereolab. Yeah, this is quite pretty indeed.
I'm hoping from the opening seconds that Snoop Dogg can somehow rescue this one. End of pier comedy song, I don't care how famous the names, this is a cheeseball embarrassment. A mother in law joke would now feel most welcome.

Love A, from a record that's a long-time BCB fave. But I'm going to throw a vote to B because I already know it's gonna lose, and I think it's a lot of fun. And Snoop sings great!

Ah, I spoke too soon!
A is from one of my absolute favourite albums, B didn't stand a chance. But it isn't very good anyway, that kind of hoedown crap tests my patience at the best of times.

The USA are one of my favourite psych bands, there's always so much going on in their records, too much so at times! I didn't like all the sounds in this, but it had an energy and cumulative power that saw it through. B's good old boy act seemed a bit tired.
Easily A

I'd love to vote for B, I enjoyed it a lot, but it wouldn't be honest. A is wonderful.

I feel sorry for B - it's a fun tune in its way, but here it's like pulling out a joint during a gun fight. A blows it away.

I like the sentiment of Willie and his pals a lot, but it can't possibly win against a fabulous tune from one of the best albums of 1968

A is really good. Sorry, I'm drunk and typing words is annoying. I hate the style of country music that's on display in B - I'spent a year in a band that played that type of stuff and I didn't enjoy it.

A would have been on my short list if I'd done this theme. I bought this album when it came out, and played it to death - still have it. It's a fine song from a great album, with some wild sounds and relatable lyrics (although at the time I bought and loved it, I was yet to discover the wonderful worlds of druqus): as my pal Richard Gollin said at the time, 'You don't mean to tell me that a nice Jewish girl like that is doing drugs?' 7 / 10
B This is fun, too, and unfamiliar. Like the joyful piano and the general hoedown feel to it - I didn't even notice snoop dog in the general good-timiness – but it's not quite good enough to win here. 6 / 10
Enjoyable round, cheers
