In the early Sixties, with singles like Anyone Who Had a Heart and the wondrous Don't Make Me Over, Dionne could hold her own with any soul singer extant. I loved her, and carried on buying her records as she became more supper club, and the songs did not let her show her deep soul chops, concentrating on that light, skippy, higher register aspect of voice in tracks like San Jose, and this one.
Well, I like this sort of metal better than the Sab, Purple, NWOBHM and all that sort of thing, although I was disappointed in this not having the random squall and squeal of guitars I like rather than the riffage, although the vocalist was a bit of a cut above.
Bizarrely, considering how far apart in styles these two tracks are, for me this is a tight match.
