Ooh, I like these both a lot - tough call.
A is actually a bit post-garage - note the MC5/Stooges influence creeping in - but it's pretty compelling despite the timeline and the ordinariness of the actual song.
Same can be said for B, really - it's pretty cliche lyrically and musically, but they do a hell of a job selling it.
I guess I'll go with A just because it's new to me and B is on a comp I have (Pebbles, maybe? Not sure which.) But it's a shame for either of these to lose.

I think I struggle with this round more than any other, garage rock just seems to mean substandard 60s rock with at least one instrument badly recorded. This must've been pretty dated by the time it came out, it feels light years behind what The Stooges were doing. The bit with the choppy fast guitar is acceptable, but for a band called It's All Meat, I'd expect a bit more on the bone than this.
Ooh, what a terrible intro, after all that trying to sell himself sounding like the epitome of rock n' roll, he suddenly turns into the wettest paper bag on record. A definite shirt for a large female. That's piss poor, it does nothing, goes nowhere collapses into a sugar-induced coma.

A has all the attitude you want and is a great sounding thing. However it is slightly lacking a killer riff or chorus to remember it by. Some of the comments so far on B are missing its obvious humour. For me it's a classic of the genre and, unusually for a garage record, it takes you on a journey of sorts with the way it builds and falls. A record with a big personality, I think it's great.."get off my back"?!

Some of the comments so far on B are missing its obvious humour. Well it's this 'black is white' insanity again, isn't it? There hasn't been a match yet where I haven't been amazed by things people have said. Strong is 'weak', strange is 'standard', wild is 'tame'....it's doublethink! The idea that we have anything at all in common taste-wise is shattered completely every time we have these competitions.

The fact that at least three regular voters are dyed-in-the-wool contrarians doesn't help, of course

Fine match, both right up my alley. A sounds REALLY good for a garage track; must be from the tail end of that period. Great riffing. That spare rock and roll garage sound during the verses of B is wonderful, and get it the win here.

'Feel It' is on Pebbles Vol. 9, by the way, so don't be doubting its credentials

Not much to say, my feelings about garage rock are close to DF's (is that serious, doc?). A seems to give a try to introduce some variation, enough to get my vote.

I don't think Ed was contrary so much as a little over-critical at times, but he usually came out with the right choice in his vote. There's a match at the moment (not this one) that's threatening to deliver a crazy result and that's where I miss Ed because he'd usually go for the obviously superior track and so that kind of outcome was less likely to happen.

Can a majority be contrarian? I don't get how a tie can be won because of contrarians. Which is my star sign, as it happens.
And I know you're not talking about the novelty round, but you should be.
