The Ying Tong Song was one of the very first records I fell in love with, certainly the first I learned off by heart. I loved the Goons: sitting round the steam radio listening to them, Hancock's Half Hour and Journey into Space with my dad, also a comedy and sci-fi fan, remains one of my warmest memories of my childhood in the 1950s. I can see how it won't make much sense to people who had the misfortune to be born elsewhere and elsewhen, but the combination of the character voices of Neddy, Eccles and Bluebottle on this, together with the sound effects and mike techniques - all relatively new then of course – can still make me chuckle now.
B is basically too heavily 'inspired' by Stan Freberg's John and Marsha, and doesn't cut it for me, even if he is a comedy god for voicing Mr Magoo.
