Not sure what the hell to make of B and am tired on jazz numbers with titles insinuating food, but not really about food..I'll need to come back to this one
Edit: Frackity Frack..Vote B for a semi interesting video..That's about all the praise I can muster

I love Mingus and John Grant. Nice match up! And didn't realize how food-related B was. But A is something special - I love Mingus's vocal tracks - so spirited.

No I won't, Charlie.
B is a nice little piece which wins a vote.

Neither are for me. A feels forced in its sense of fun and actually gets quite annoying. B is the kind of sombre exercise in middle class tastefulness that they cream over on BCB,. It's one of the main reasons I dropped out of the mix club thing over there because I was always being sent stuff that sounded like this "Oooh sophisticated songwriting, he's so dark...."

Silly vs tasteful. Hm.
In this particular case
B
but neither are anything much

Now, I love a bit of Mingus, but by Christ it isn't this bit of Mingus. Dixieland jazz is a struggle, how did Mingus and Rahsaan Roland Kirk end up playing something as antiquated and boring as this?
Bloody hell what is that piano riff? The whole melody is taken from something else, isn't it? I'm thinking War of the Worlds, is that the point? How come when we do actually get fairly modern songs, they're trying to sound like the 70s? Anyway, I guess it does enough to win.

Coo you lot dismissing the Mingus track because it's simple and light? Bah, it's fun.
*Editing in my response to B - dull. Really dull. So dull I forgot to comment.

Well, I did like both, but today, being locked up for the 6th day, I prefer going to Mars over eating chicken (again).

B is ok but doesn't really make me smile like A does. This is Mingus doing what Mingus do - making the music that he wants to make whether it's what others expect him to do or not. Having Kirk makes sense; both were extremely fond of stretching boundaries and expectations, mixing traditions with new sounds.

A There are a few Jazz Greats, that I never really got, and Mingus is one of them. I found the bass annoying - too loud – but, while no mouldy fig, I'm not offended by Dixieland clarinet, and thought this had a real fun vibe, as we old uns say, even if it had nothing much to do with food.
Then again, B, while pretty enough, and reminded me of modern bands I do like, as well as, quite strongly, Pearls Before Swine, isn't really about food, but about death, something I may not have realised had I not made the mistake of watching the video (something I don't normally do). I hated it. Sorry B, I get pissed off when people do that to my picks, but that has tipped me over in what was otherwise a close match to A
