A is a fine thing. But it could have been my dog belching and still would have beaten B - I've had a strong dislike for the Walker Brothers since I heard them in the 60s.

B is great, but...(you know what I'm going to say, don't you?)
I've been a long-time fan of the Persuasions, and they make Zappa downright palatable, which ain't easy. So I have no hesitation in voting for A.

A is well sung but a really boring song. The whole thing has a rote, by the numbers, feel about it.
B is as obvious as it comes, but fuck it's glorious. Scott Walker absolutely nails the song with a vocal as commandingly assured as it gets. Also, and I'll no doubt incur the considerable wrath of Rayge with this, it's expansive production stands up to the best US productions of the era.
Easily B

Fuck, i feel bad for A here. I quite like it, quite a bit actually just played it twice. I know very little about Zappa, but my doo wop love is strong, and these guys' voices make me happy. But, damn, my intentions to vote for the underdog just got blown out the window by the first 30 seconds of B. Just gorgeous, and because i hadn't heard it in a relatively long time it just sounded as fresh as a daisy.

I don't know anything about Zappa either, don't know anything about this song. I don't mind a bit of doo-wop, but I also don't think there's that much of a song here, it's just a bit annoying in its repetition. Sound like they could be good with a better song.
Bs a really boringly obvious track to play to the crowd with. I'd much rather have Scott Walker solo, too, obviously enough. I don't like the production much, it smells a bit musty to me for all that supposed sunshine. Might be being harsh there because of the era dating it.
No, I'll abstain.

the main thing I like about B is that it reminds me of "Young Girl' by Gary Pucket & the Union Gap.
I call 'em like I see 'em. B

Had not heard about this Persuasions sing Zappa thing. Might well check it. But no way they can beat the gorgeousness of

Being "obvious" shouldn't be a negative when it's a piece as fabulous as B. It should be on the perfect pop song thread.

Don't need to listen to B, heard it so many times, bought it at some point - the WB always gave good b-side.
A I never heard before, and it's just wrong. All those pictures from the fifties to accompany this on the youtube and it sounds SO 1970, over-arranged and showbiz slick. Doo wop was utterly over and irrecoverable except by pastiche – which is essentially what this is – by 1965. These guys are out of time and too old.
But, then again, so am I.
