Bit stuck on this one - A's a classic, B's great.
Having trouble. May come back. If I don't, it's abstain.

I can never get bored of A which has such a commanding tight groove and an effortless vocal from Curtis. Like all the best anti drug songs (see also 'White Lines'), it makes drugs sound cool and exciting. B is one of the best PE tracks, explosive and involving. It's probably a braver pick than A too, but I can't escape the fact that A is more me.

Ah, now this is more like it. Both great.
Agreeing with G here - A ultimately more 'my kind of thing.holds more for me, which makes this an unfortunate round for B, which could have won most of them so far.

Funnily enough, I reckon I could kind of get into Curtis if I put the effort in. Songs like this are just so well crafted, everything's performed so tight, yet there's plenty of freedom there. Bit of an obvious play to the crowd in this neck of the woods though.
Can't vote against Public Enemy though, this is very much more my kind of thing. Chuck sounds like a bull on steroids here, and the really fragmented use of samples is a thing of greatness.

"it takes a nation of millions" landed on me like a ton of bricks. that's my favorite track. I think it's a kick ass thing.
Curtis took a shitty ass little exploitation movie and gave it beauty. ALL the beauty in that movie comes from it's soundtrack. He sings like he really cares. I love the Superfly soundtrack because it was really good and I got it for 50 cents. A

Apparently this Cup is making me open my mind about hiphop some 40 years too late. Still I don't think I would buy a record, but B was enjoyable. But then, you know, Curtis ... well ...

I think once the dust has settled it will become evident that the better track here is indeed

Both quality but I'll give B a consolation vote.
That's Khalid Muhammad on the intro, he was interviewed at length by Louis Theroux in a Weird Weekends episode.

Sigh. CM was, no question, one of the three greatest male soul voices of the sixties, and a great writer to boot. One or two of his songs for and with the Impressions were huge influences on me at a time I really needed it. But then this blaxploitation funk shit came along and he nosedived. Sure, still a lovely light tenor voice, but the soul has gone out of it. That choppy proto-disco 70s-hipster backing is fucking pants.
I'm no fan of PE, and this track is unfamiliar, but on one listen it's got more than enough to win here.

A is groovy!
