I like Kool & The Gang. This isn't their finest but it's still very good. Shame then that it's up against something so sublime as
B

Both absolute bangers. Stunning, uplifting music.
I think I marginally prefer A - that bassline is pure genius

Terrible ITV daytime sports programme intro. Does break down into something approaching a groove, but this kinda thing really does rub me up the wrong way. Just seems to be lacking a reason to exist, all those vocal ticks and overlapping mutterings, it's doing me 'ead in.
Well, I never knew who this was. And I didn't know it was on a car commercial, either. But this feels much more like a song, a big smooth warm custard of a song. Not even made from powder, but fresh eggs and vanilla. No idea where I'm going with this, sorry.

California Soul is an absolute classic, one I was first introduced to by Norman Jay back in the early 90s and of course it's great to have our first Charles 'Weetabix' Stepney track. But I first used this in a cup well over ten years ago and it's been used innumerable times since, sorry but it's been round the block way too many times and it's too obvious a pick. B's a bit of a party and I like the groove, even if it's not quite up there with their best.

I think the car commercial was US only, but it was ubiquitous. And even if not for that, it's way overused in cups.
A is hilariously self-referential, and while it's on the verge of overplayed/obvious itself, B is the very definition of those things, as good as it is.

It's been used in adverts in the UK in the last few years.

B is the better record for me, but A is the track i'm happiest to see and play right now. K&TG were the shiz; while this one might not be at the peak of their most cracking singles, i'm still most happified to see it.

Well, I had not conciously heard B before and it's a blast! And I found A to be as shitty as all I've heard from K&tG. Have a guess

A was the club music in one of the GTA games. I can't remember which one. It's a bit over-dependent on the bass, B does more for me here.

The only positive thought I have about Kool & the Gang is that they inspired the name of the infinitely more enjoyable Kunt & the Gang.
Since I haven't listened to a commercial since remote controls were invented, I was completely unaware of B. Wish it had stayed that way.
