I watched all of the Sopranos recently. It's easy to forget how good some thing is but it was better second time around. The writing and acting are probably the best TV has ever seen.

This scene really resonated with me. Such loneliness but universal too. You felt for Tony in spite of everything. In moments like this The Sopranos rose above pretty much everything else.

The Wire is the best TV show of all time, you reprobates. I do think it lost its way in season five, but yeah.

Though it is of course very good, it's not even the greatest thing to come from David Simon: that would be Homicide: Life on the Street. I thought about doing a list, but what is point? I've been watching TV for longer than any of you have been alive, since 1951 or so, and there's been plenty I've enjoyed, but my tastes have changed over time (as, of course, has the oputput - quite radically so)

I haven't sat through an episode for a long time but the theme tune is absolutely wonderful, daft pop with a slightly folky edge, lovely early 70s vibe, magical credits too. I love this stuff

Is it that you don't know it, or just that you're surprised it's there? It was a soap opera that aired on Channel 4 between 1982 and around 2000. In its early days it was wonderful, like a 30-minute Ken Loach film twice a week. Actually it probably wasn't that good really and my memory's playing tricks I mean, I haven't seen those shows for almost 40 years. But I did really enjoy it. Do you remember Tommy McArdle? I used to love that character! ‘Free George Jackson!’

Golly gosh, you’re right!
Ok. Lose ‘The Fall Guy‘. Colt would understand.
